Vortex dynamics of blade-blade interaction [PDF]

open access: possibleAIAA Journal, 1994
A time domain method has been developed for treatments of vortex dynamics in all classes of blade-blade interaction problems. A new vortex impingement condition is introduced to the discrete vortex tracking scheme and was found most effective in handling the vortex-airfoil interaction and the blade-blade interaction (BBI) problems.

Blade to blade vibration damper

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1983
L'appareil ci-decrit permet l'amortissement effectif de l'energie vibratoire des aubes. The apparatus described above enables the effective damping of the vibratory energy of the blades. Les concepts concernent essentiellement l'amortissement dit aube-aube en comparaison a l'amortissement aube-sol.

Blade to blade vibration damper

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1985
Apparatus for dampening rotor blade vibratory energy in a rotary machine is disclosed. Concepts employing blade to blade damping are discussed. In one detailed form, a damper (52) is disposed to seat against the undersides of adjacent blade platform sections (20) and a seal (42) is spaced sufficiently close to the damper so as to be deflected ...

The Impact of Blade-to-Blade Flow Variability on Turbine Blade Cooling Performance

40th AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference and Exhibit, 2004
The focus of this paper is the impact of manufacturing variability on turbine blade cooling flow and, subsequently, its impact on oxidation life. A simplified flow network model of the cooling air supply system and a row of blades is proposed. Using this simplified model, the controlling parameters which affect the distribution of cooling flow in a ...

Fan Blade Flutter: Single Blade Instability or Blade to Blade Coupling?

Volume 1: Aircraft Engine; Marine; Turbomachinery; Microturbines and Small Turbomachinery, 1985
Different types of fan blade flutter occur at the various compressor flow regimes. Sub/transonic stall flutter and two forms of supersonic started flow flutter have been studied in a straight cascade wind tunnel. Results show clearly that these three common forms of flutter can exist as single-degree-of-freedom (single-blade instabilities).

Decreasing Bladed Disk Response With Dampers on a Few Blades: Part II—Nonlinear and Blade-Blade Dampers Applications

Volume 7: Structures and Dynamics, Parts A and B, 2012
This two part paper focuses on the optimum placement of a limited number of dampers, i.e. fewer than the number of blades, on a bladed disk to induce the smallest possible amplitude of blade response with or without involuntary, random mistuning. Intentional mistuning is also considered as an option to reduce the amplitude of blade response and the ...

The Effect of Blade Geometry on Blade Stall Characteristics

Journal of Solar Energy Engineering, 2005
The effect of rotation has been investigated with emphasis on the impact of blade geometry on the “correction factor” in stall models. The data used came from field tests and wind tunnel experiments performed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and were restricted to the steady-state nonyawed conditions.

Blades have the edge [blade servers

IEEE Spectrum, 2005
An increasing number of computer rooms all over the world are switching from conventional servers to blade servers because they offer huge improvements over conventional, rack-mounted units. The greatest benefit of blades is their flexibility, which allows them to be easily installed, managed and repaired compared to conventional servers.
