Horizontal-axis tidal turbine blade loading for multi-frequency oscillatory motion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper presents results from an experimental study which analysed the hydrodynamic response of the out-of-plane blade root bending moment for a horizontal-axis turbine exposed to multi-frequency oscillatory motion.

Liquids as Reinforcements for Anisotropic and Tough Soft Matter Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid metal droplets are shaped and oriented within soft elastomers to create all‐soft matter composites with programmable mechanical anisotropy. These liquid inclusions act as fiber‐like reinforcements, enabling directional stiffness, enhanced toughness, and controlled crack steering under extreme deformation, offering new routes to resilient soft ...

A review of research in rotor loads [PDF]

open access: yes
The research accomplished in the area of rotor loads over the last 13 to 14 years is reviewed. The start of the period examined is defined by the 1973 AGARD Milan conference and the 1974 hypothetical rotor comparison.

High‐Performance, Paper‐Based Microelectronics via a Micromodular Fabrication Process

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates high‐performance silicon micromodular transistors on cellulose nanomaterial‐coated paper, with interconnects formed via e‐jet printing. Transistors exhibit excellent electrical properties and maintain performance under applied strain.

双叶片推进器及其性能分析

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2008
A new type of liquid propeller-double-blade propeller is discovered and its performance parameters are derived by means of kinematics analysis of the blade and loads applied on the blades. An example is given for comparing the performance parameters of ...

Analysis of tower/blade interaction in the cancellation of the tower fore-aft mode via control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
With the increase in size of wind turbines, there is increasing interest in exploiting the pitch control capability of variable speed turbines to alleviate tower fatigue loads.

Hydrogel‐Based 3D‐Printable Stretchable Pressure Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
We present a carbon‐black‐functionalized double‐network granular hydrogel (DNGH) pressure sensor capable of detecting pressures from 200 Pa, equivalent to a light finger touch, up to 500 kPa. The sensor exhibits signal drifts below 3.5% after 800 cycles and response times around 80 ms. Leveraging this broad sensing range, we 3D print this material into

Applications of higher harmonic control to hingeless rotor systems [PDF]

open access: yes
A comprehensive analytical formulation was developed to predict the vibratory hub loads of a helicopter rotor system in forward flight. This analysis is used to calculate the optimal higher harmonic control inputs and associated actuator power required ...
