Blade Load Reconstruction from Embedded Strain Measurements

Proceedings of the Vertical Flight Society 78th Annual Forum, 2022
Rotorcraft blades are subject to significant dynamic loads both in standard and critical operating conditions. The knowledge and the prediction of the produced aerodynamic loads could represent an advantage in preventing failures on the rotorcraft, but also to avoid unnecessary inspections and reduce the downtime of the aircraft.

Turbine Blade Loading and Experimental Verification

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
The paper describes process of verification of FEM model of turbine rotor blade fatigue tests. Design of new turbine blade is tested on experimental stand, where load situation is similar to load of rotor blade of steam turbine during operation. Real load of blade and boundary condition on experimental stand was monitored by means of strain gauges set.

BLADE: A Broadband Loaded Antenna DEsigner

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine, 2006
This paper presents a software tool for designing loaded antennas equipped with matching networks for broadband or multi-band applications. The software implements a genetic algorithm to automatically optimize the large set of parameters involved in the design procedure.

Experimental investigation of blade and propeller loads: Steady turning motion

Applied Ocean Research, 2019
This paper is the continuation of the work described in [14] , dedicated to the presentation of the results of propeller performance in behind-hull during straight ahead motion obtained by a novel experimental set-up for the measurements of single blade ...

Rotor blade harmonic air loading

AIAA Journal, 1964
The determination of the air loads acting on rotor blades in forward flight presents an interesting and challenging problem in applied aerodynamics. Of particular importance for design purposes are the oscillatory components of this loading occurring at harmonics of the rotor speed.

Blade Loading and Spanwise Effects on Wake Characteristics of Compressor Rotor Blade

Journal of Aircraft, 1982
An experimental investigation of the blade loading and spanwise effects on the rotor wake is presented. The investigation was limited to a study of a low subsonic and incompressible wake flow found downstream of a lightly loaded rotor. Measurements were made with a triaxial hot wire probe mounted in the stationary frame of reference at six radial and ...

Effect of Helicopter Blade Dynamics on Blade Aerodynamic and Structural Loads

Journal of the American Helicopter Society, 1987
The effect of rotor blade dynamics on aerodynamic and structural loads is examined for a conventional, main- rotor helicopter using both a comprehensive rotorcraft analysis (CAMRAD) and night test data. The impact of blade dynamics on blade section lift-coefficient time histories is studied by comparing predictions from both a rigid blade analysis and ...

Wind Turbine Rotor Blades under Fatigue Loads

1990
To investigate fatigue life of wind turbine rotor blades DLR operates a 100 kW wind energy converter with 25 m diameter rotor at its test site in Southern Germany. Additionally, fatigue tests on Gl-Ep material and full scale components are carried out at the laboratory. Results of these investigations are presented.
