Experimental Investigation of the Blade Tip Timing (BTT) Uncertainties [PDF]

open access: possible, 2022
The uncertainties of blade tip displacement measurement using BTT are investigated through experiments. A novel test bench is established where the blade deformation can be measured simultaneously by laser displacement sensors and BTT, which enables the determination of the BTT measurement error.

Blade Tip Timing: from Raw Data to Parameters Identification

2019 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC), 2019
Blade Tip Timing (BTT) methods have been increasingly implemented for blade health monitoring. However, most of them are based on the prior knowledge that the resonance’s location is known. Since real BTT test usually takes more than ten hours, it’s unrealistic to Figure out every resonance from the measured raw data manually.

On the development of a magnetoresistive sensor for blade tip timing and blade tip clearance measurement systems

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2014
A simultaneous blade tip timing (BTT) and blade tip clearance (BTC) measurement system enables the determination of turbomachinery blade vibrations and ensures the monitoring of the existing running gaps between the blade tip and the casing. This contactless instrumentation presents several advantages compared to the well-known telemetry system with ...

Blade-Tip Timing Measurement Of Synchronous Vibrations Of Rotating Bladed

2002
Blade-tip timing (BTT) is a promising method for the detection, measurement and analysis of blade vibrations in rotating bladed assemblies. However, the intricacies of the method when applied to real rotating structures undergoing synchronous (Engine Ordered) vibrations are not yet fully understood.

Calibration of blade tip-timing sensor for shrouded 40″ last stage blade

Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, 2018
Abstract Today’s power generation market requests steam turbines of high efficiency, reliability and wide operation range. The last stage moving blades are designed with integral shroud, mid-span, and fir-tree dovetail. The blades are continuously coupled by the blade untwist due to the centrifugal force, and thus the vibration control and increased ...

A blade damage identification method based on bladed disk modal analysis and blade tip timing

Aerospace Science and Technology
Blade damage diagnosis is a critical requirement for ensuring operational safety and reliability in aero-engines and gas turbines. Blade tip timing (BTT) is a well-established non-contact vibration monitoring technique. However, most existing damage detection methods focus on single-blade response analysis, which suffers from diagnostic latency and can
