A Hybrid Fault Diagnosis Approach for Blade Crack Detection using Blade Tip Timing
2020 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC), 2020The harsh working environment of the compressor hinders the condition monitoring of rotating blades. Blade faults are mostly induced by foreign object damage or high cycle failure due to initial defects. Detecting these failures before blades being broken will not only ensure engine safety but largely reduce repair costs.

Blade tip timing (BTT) uncertainties
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2016Blade Tip Timing (BTT) is an alternative technique for characterising blade vibration in which non-contact timing probes (e.g. capacitance or optical probes), typically mounted on the engine casing (figure 1), and are used to measure the time at which a blade passes each probe.

Analysis of blade vibration frequencies from blade tip timing data
SPIE Proceedings, 2010Blade tip timing is a non-intrusive technique used for detection, measurement and analysis of blade vibration in rotating blade assemblies. The main recent focus in the application of blade tip timing system has been the determination of blade vibration frequencies.

BLADE-TIP TIMING MEASUREMENT OF SYNCHRONOUS VIBRATIONS OF ROTATING BLADED ASSEMBLIES
Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, 2002Blade-tip timing (BTT) is a promising method for the detection, measurement and analysis of blade vibrations in rotating bladed assemblies. However, the intricacies of the method when applied to real rotating structures undergoing synchronous (Engine Ordered) vibrations are not yet fully understood.

Blade Tip Timing: from Raw Data to Parameters Identification
2019 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC), 2019Blade Tip Timing (BTT) methods have been increasingly implemented for blade health monitoring. However, most of them are based on the prior knowledge that the resonance’s location is known. Since real BTT test usually takes more than ten hours, it’s unrealistic to Figure out every resonance from the measured raw data manually.

A simultaneous blade tip timing (BTT) and blade tip clearance (BTC) measurement system enables the determination of turbomachinery blade vibrations and ensures the monitoring of the existing running gaps between the blade tip and the casing. This contactless instrumentation presents several advantages compared to the well-known telemetry system with ...

A blade damage identification method based on bladed disk modal analysis and blade tip timing
Aerospace Science and TechnologyBlade damage diagnosis is a critical requirement for ensuring operational safety and reliability in aero-engines and gas turbines. Blade tip timing (BTT) is a well-established non-contact vibration monitoring technique. However, most existing damage detection methods focus on single-blade response analysis, which suffers from diagnostic latency and can
