A high sensitivity inductive sensor for blade tip clearance measurement
Smart Materials and Structures, 2014A multiplexed inductive sensor consisting of multiple mini-sized planar spiral coils for detecting multiple tip clearances of rotor blades is presented. The sensor measures the tip clearances by monitoring the inductance changes of planar spiral coils caused by the passage of the rotor blades.

Techniques for blade tip clearance measurements with capacitive probes
Measurement Science and Technology, 2000This article presents a proven but advantageous concept for blade tip clearance evaluation in turbomachinery. The system is based on heavy duty probes and a high frequency (HF) and amplifying electronic unit followed by a signal processing unit. Measurements are taken under high temperature and other severe conditions such as ionization.

1982Abstract : An experimental investigation, whose objective was to demonstrate the influence of rotor blade tip clearance effects on the dynamic pressure induced on a downstream vane, was conducted in a large, low speed, single-stage research compressor. The blade tip clearance was 0.48% span.
