Ultrafast Chemical Pre‐Sodiation of Pseudocapacitive CaV8O20 Anodes for High‐Performance Sodium‐Ion Capacitors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An ultrafast (2‐minute), gas‐free chemical pre‐sodiation strategy using Na‐benzophenone is developed to compensate for initial sodium loss in calcium vanadate (CaV8O20). Driven by the Ca2+ ‘spectator effect’, the framework enables highly reversible, quasi‐zero‐strain solid‐solution sodium storage, explicitly bypassing destructive conversion reactions ...

Bidirectional Soft Catalysts for Improved Power Performance of Li‐S Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A soft polymer‐metal catalyst is integrated into the binder to create a catalytically active microenvironment that accelerates bidirectional sulfur redox kinetics in lithium‐sulfur batteries. A model polyvinyl alcohol‐Cu catalyst enables high areal capacities at demanding current densities and stable cycling in pouch‐cell prototypes at 0.5 C, achieving

Resolving Oxidative and Corrosive Calendar‐Aging via Electrolyte Engineering for Stable Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A weakly solvating ether solvent, 1,2‐dimethoxypropane (DMP), is proposed for use in localized high‐concentration electrolytes (LHCEs) for lithium metal batteries (LMBs). These DMP‐based LHCEs simultaneously suppress lithium metal corrosion and cathode degradation—two interrelated processes that accelerate calendar aging of LMBs.

Experimental Investigation of Synchronous-Flow-Induced Blade Vibrations on a Radial Turbine

open access: yesInternational Journal of Turbomachinery, Propulsion and Power
In this study, a thorough experimental investigation of the synchronous blade vibrations of a radial turbine is performed for different IGV configurations. First, the blade modes are measured experimentally and calculated numerically.

Multiscale Carbon‐Integrated Silicon Anode for Stable Cycling Under Practical Lithium‐Ion Battery Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
To overcome silicon anode instability, a hierarchical silicon/carbon composite fabricated from industrial waste via a scalable milling process is demonstrated. In‐depth post‐mortem analysis reveals how functional carbons—a CNT network and graphene shell—synergistically suppress degradation. This robust design delivers outstanding stability in practical
