Prospective LCA of E‐Methanol Along the Transformation of Steel Industry
The environmental effects of change in steel production route on e‐methanol production are analyzed as they shift from blast furnace route to direct reduction route. Specific hydrogen demand reduces, as do the avoided CO2 emissions. E‐methanol's overall carbon footprint stays in a narrow range of −1 to −1.1 kg‐CO2‐eq./kg‐methanol.

Reduction of Iron Ore Pellets, Sinter, and Lump Ore under Simulated Blast Furnace Conditions [PDF]
A blast furnace (BF) is the dominant process for making iron in the world. The BF is charged with metallurgical coke and iron burden materials including iron ore pellets, sinter, and lump ore. While descending in the BF the charge materials reduce.

The transformation of CO2 into chemical building blocks is essential for a net‐zero energy future. Plasma‐chemical processing offers promising potential to achieve this. Here, we explore a temperature‐dependent plasma‐chemical reaction mechanism, revealing a shift from electron‐driven to thermal‐driven CO2 conversion regimes.
