Anthropogenic iron oxide aerosols enhance atmospheric heating

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Iron oxide nanoparticles contribute to shortwave absorption in the form of desert dust. Motekiet al. show that iron oxide particles of anthropogenic origin, potentially from motor vehicles and blast furnaces, also contribute to atmospheric heating over ...

Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.

Levelized Cost Analysis for Blast Furnace CO2 Capture, Utilization, and Storage Retrofit in China’s Blast Furnace–Basic Oxygen Furnace Steel Plants

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
As the largest carbon emitter in China’s manufacturing sector, the low-carbon transition of the steel industry is urgent. CO2 capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technology is one of the effective measures to reduce carbon emissions in steel ...

Atomically Modulating Competing Exchange Interactions in Centrosymmetric Skyrmion Hosts GdRu2X2 (X = Si and Ge)

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Our work bridges the gap between skyrmion discovery and material design by demonstrating how atomic‐scale control of exchange interactions enables tunable skyrmion phase transitions in centrosymmetric magnetic metals. ABSTRACT Magnetic skyrmions are topologically protected spin states that hold promise for shaping the future of electronics.

Reduction of costs of iron production by changing parameters of the mixed blast-furnace wind [PDF]

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2010
The blast-furnace wind from hot-blast stoves is a significant factor of the blast furnace functioning. The technology was analyzed in which the hot wind from hot-blast stoves is not mixed with the cool wind to a constant wind temperature, but is blown ...

Perimeter‐intensified inverse Zr‐Co oxygen carrier for biomass chemical‐looping gasification with high CO selectivity

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Chemical‐looping gasification (CLG) offers a promising route for renewable biomass valorization, yet conventional oxygen carrier regeneration with O₂/H₂O is energy‐intensive and often produces low‐quality syngas. Here, we develop an inverse ZrO2/Co3O4 oxygen carrier that enables selective biochar oxidation and efficient lattice‐oxygen transfer

The Effect of Sintering Flue Gas Composition on NO Reduction in Coke

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The strategy of substituting combustion air with sintering flue gas in circulating fluidized bed (CFB) systems provides a low‐cost and highly efficient approach for the purification of sintering off‐gas. In this work, coke was employed as the reducing agent, and a high‐temperature vertical tube furnace was used to simulate the dense‐phase ...
