Polysaccharides of Blastomyces Dermatitidis

The Journal of Immunology, 1940
Summary and Conclusions Chemical analysis of Blastomyces dermatitidis indicates that this fungus contains at least two distinct polysaccharides. Minute quantities of these polysaccharides fix complement with sera prepared by immunizing rabbits with whole Blastomyces dermatitidis.

Splenic Abscess Caused by Blastomyces dermatitidis

Southern Medical Journal, 1986
We have reported a case of fungal splenic abscess caused by Blastomyces dermatitidis. Splenic abscess is an uncommon disorder, and fungus as the causative organism is rare. The diagnosis of splenic abscess can be rapidly made with radionuclide and CT scanning and ultrasonography.

A case of solitary Blastomyces dermatitidis meningitis

Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery, 2011
We present a case of a 35 year-old male with Blastomyces dermatitidis meningitis as the primary presentation of blastomycosis infection, without evidence of involvement outside the CNS at time of discharge. We focus on the magnetic resonance imaging findings, with histopathologic correlation.

Skeletal Muscle Abscess Caused by Blastomyces dermatitidis

The American Journal of the Medical Sciences, 2009
Muscle involvement is an extremely rare manifestation of blastomycosis. We, therefore, report a case of a large gluteal muscle abscess caused by Blastomyces dermatitidis in a young, immunocompetent male. In addition, we review the literature to further characterize the syndrome of skeletal muscle blastomycosis.

Extrapulmonary Thoracic Disease Caused by Blastomyces dermatitidis

Chest, 1994
A case of blastomycosis is reported involving the mediastinum and compromising the plexus brachialis.
