The Ecology of Blastomyces dermatitidis

1992
Understanding the epidemiology of blastomycosis depends on comprehension of the ecology of Blastomyces dermatitidis. This interrelationship, without a doubt, is real. There is a paucity of data on both the ecology and the epidemiology of this disease. The present assumptions of these concerns either are based on analogy with other systemic pathogenic ...

Taxonomy and Biology of Blastomyces dermatitidis

1992
Blastomyces dermatitidis is a dimorphic fungus, growing in the environment in a mycelial form and in mammalian tissue in a yeast form. In common with other dimorphic fungi, the life cycle of B. dermatitidis is not dependent upon entering a living host and establishing infection and disease.
