Reproduction and Development of Blattella asahinai (Dictyoptera: Blattellidae) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Economic Entomology, 1991
The development of the Asian cockroach, Blattella asahinai Mizukubo, was studied under laboratory conditions. Immature development and adult longevity were 67.8 and 103.5 d for females and 65.7 and 48.5 d for males. Females produced an average of 3.7 oothecae, 64.6% of which were viable.

Mulch Preferences of the Asian Cockroach (Dictyoptera: Blattellidae) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Economic Entomology, 2013
Mulch preferences of the Asian cockroach, Blattella asahinai Mizukubo, were determined in a series of laboratory experiments. Because this species is a peridomestic pest, mulch preferences may be a key part of an integrated pest management program for homeowners. Five mulches were used: cypress, oak leaf litter, pine straw, rubber, and topsoil.

Temperature-Dependent Demography ofSupella longipalpa(Blattodea: Blattellidae) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Entomology, 2007
The demography of the brownbanded cockroach, Supella longipalpa (F.) (Blattodea: Blattellidae), was studied based on the age-stage, two-sex life table at 25, 29, and 33 degrees C. Females incubated at the three temperatures produced 11.8, 14.6, and 12.8 oothecae per female, respectively.

Behavioural and toxicological responses of Blattella germanica (Dictyoptera: Blattellidae) to monoterpenes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2013
Certain monoterpenes produced by aromatic plants are known to have lethal and sublethal effects on insects. As there is a need to replace conventional pesticides (organophosphates, carbamates, pyrethroids) with biorational pesticides, we evaluated the ...

Effects of myoinhibitory peptides on food intake in the German cockroach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Insect myoinhibitory peptides were discovered through their inhibitory activity on visceral muscle contraction. The present study tests the antimyotropic gut properties of three galanin-related myoinhibitory peptides (Mas-MIP II: GWQDLNSAW-NH2; Grb-AST ...

Are differences in hydrocarbon profiles able to mediate strain recognition in German cockroaches (Dictyoptera: Blattellidae)?

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2002
Previous behavioural tests indicated that strain recognition and aggregation behaviour could be induced by cuticular hydrocarbons. The aim of this study was to document and to compare cuticular hydrocarbon profiles between different strains of Blattella ...
