Microneedles Mediated Delivery of Nanodiamonds for Quantum Sensing of Free Radicals in Skin Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Fluorescent nanodiamonds are nanoscale sensors capable of monitoring cellular stress responses. However, to function effectively, they must be delivered into cells or tissues. Here, we demonstrate their application in the skin by developing a dissolvable microneedle platform that dissolves after skin insertion, enabling the delivery of nanodiamonds ...

Immediate Organic Room‐Temperature Phosphorescence in Programmable Luminescent Tags Enabled by Oxygen‐Free Fabrication

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Programmable luminescent tags based on organic room‐temperature phosphorescence are shown to be governed by oxygen incorporation during fabrication. Oxygen‐free processing enables immediate phosphorescence activation, controlled thermal preconditioning, and tunable activation doses.

Red‐Sensitive Photopolymerizable Glass for Fabrication of Holographic Optical Elements

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel photopolymerizable glass capable of optical patterning using red‐wavelength laser exposure. Red‐light sensitivity was achieved through the incorporation of a photoinitiating system composed of methylene blue (MB) and N‐phenylglycine (NPG).

MANGO‐“Fruitcage”: A Conditional Photocage Utilizing a Fluorescence Light‐Up Aptamer

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Fruitcaging ‐ a proof of concept study of a conditional photocage (Thiazol‐Orange) activated upon binding to the fluorescence light up aptamer (Mango). The prolongation of the excited state lifetime explains the redirection of the reactive pathway toward photocleavage and provides a sensitive spectroscopic readout.

Bleach-Based Decontamination Treatment and Cytosine Deamination in Contaminant DNA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Ancient DNA (aDNA), or DNA derived from organisms typically deceased for 50+years, has typically undergone degradative processes that make its recovery vulnerable to contaminating DNA.
