Effect of the Purple Corn Beverage “Chicha Morada” in Composite Resin during Dental Bleaching

open access: yesScientifica, 2016
During dental bleaching the staining potential of the surface would increase. This study aims to evaluate the staining susceptibility of one bleached composite resin after the exposure to three different beverages: Peruvian purple corn based beverage ...

Mass coral bleaching in 2010 in the southern Caribbean. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Ocean temperatures are increasing globally and the Caribbean is no exception. An extreme ocean warming event in 2010 placed Tobago's coral reefs under severe stress resulting in widespread coral bleaching and threatening the livelihoods that rely on them.

The Bleaching of Groundwood [PDF]

open access: yes, 1960
Present industrial methods for the bleaching of groundwood are discussed. The conditions and chemicals used for hypochlorite, sodium and zinc hydrosulphite, bisulphite and sodium and hydrogen peroxide bleaching are reviewed. Consistencies, retention time,

Live-Cell Imaging of Single Receptor Composition Using Zero-Mode Waveguide Nanostructures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We exploit the optical and spatial features of subwavelength nanostructures to examine individual receptors on the plasma membrane of living cells. Receptors were sequestered in portions of the membrane projected into zero-mode waveguides.

Ultrafast Energy Transfer Induced Lasing From a Coplanar Donor‐Acceptor‐Donor Molecule in a Microspherical Cavity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel donor‐bridge‐acceptor‐bridge‐donor (D‐B‐A‐B‐D) molecular system, which shows near‐unity intramolecular excitation energy transfer (IET) from two identical energy donors to a coplanar acceptor. It enables a four‐level energy system for efficient lasing at the acceptor emission band in a microspherical cavity with a low lasing

High-concentration carbamide peroxide can reduce the sensitivity caused by in-office tooth bleaching: a single-blinded randomized controlled trial

open access: yesJournal of Applied Oral Science, 2018
Objectives A single-blinded, randomized, parallel clinical trial evaluated the use of 37% carbamide peroxide (CP) on bleaching effectiveness and tooth sensitivity reported by patients undergoing in-office tooth bleaching, in comparison with the results ...

Bleached pigment activates transduction in salamander cones. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
We have used suction electrode recording together with rapid steps into 0.5 mM IBMX solution to investigate changes in guanylyl cyclase velocity produced by pigment bleaching in isolated cones of the salamander Ambystoma tigrinum.

Hole Transfer Dynamics in Thin Films of Mixed‐Dimensional Quasi‐2D Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Charge transfer dynamics in quasi‐2D perovskite (PEA2MAn−1PbnI3n+1), grown with a distinct dimensionality gradient are investigated. Selective excitation of the n = 4 phase reveals efficient hole transfer to n = 2 and n = 3 within tens of picoseconds, while n = 1 acts as a hole‐blocking layer. These findings highlight the importance of minimizing n = 1
