Evolution of Spore Morphology in the Blechnaceae

International Journal of Plant Sciences, 2018
Premise of research. In the recent past, nine to 12 genera of Blechnaceae have been generally recognized. Nowadays, 24 are accepted on the basis of recent molecular phylogenetic studies, and these genera are classified into three subfamilies. The purpose

First Record of Sporangiasters in the Blechnaceae

American Fern Journal, 2021
Sporangiasters are an uncommon type of paraphyses, occurring in a handful of leptosporangiate fern genera. We report sporangiasters in Parablechnum nesophilum, which is their first recorded occurrence in the Blechnaceae. We provide evidence of their homology to sporangia and discuss their functional significance.

Reinstatement of the New Caledonian endemic fern Blechnum deplanchei as distinct from B. opacum (Blechnaceae)

, 2021
Blechnum opacum is a small forest fern indigenous to New Caledonia and Vanuatu. After examining the considerable morphological variation in New Caledonian populations, along with phylogenetic analysis of chloroplast DNA sequences, we conclude that B ...
