Cool Kitchen: Processing Starch and Eggshell Powder into Sustainable Coatings for Passive Daytime Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A food‐grade cooling composite made from starch and recycled eggshell powder offers a scalable, ultra‐low‐cost solution for passive daytime radiative cooling. Easily prepared using basic kitchen tools, this material empowers communities, even in areas with limited infrastructure, to stay cooler during worsening summer heat waves.

Blind separation algorithm of PCMA signals with different symbol rates based on DG-PSP

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2017
A blind separation algorithm was proposed for PCMA signals with different symbol rates based on double grid per-survivor processing (DG-PSP).The channel states and two input signal components were treated as two dynamic grids, receiving mixed-signal ...

A Maximum Likelihood Estimation of Vocal-Tract-Related Filter Characteristics for Single Channel Speech Separation

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Audio, Speech, and Music Processing, 2006
We present a new technique for separating two speech signals from a single recording. The proposed method bridges the gap between underdetermined blind source separation techniques and those techniques that model the human auditory system, that is ...

Blind Signal Separation Methods for the Identification of Interstellar Carbonaceous Nanoparticles

open access: yes, 2007
The use of Blind Signal Separation methods (ICA and other approaches) for the analysis of astrophysical data remains quite unexplored. In this paper, we present a new approach for analyzing the infrared emission spectra of interstellar dust, obtained ...

Cryogenic Focused Ion Beam Milling to Investigate the Anisotropic Magnetotransport Properties of Bismuth Microcrystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The highly anisotropic Fermi surface of bismuth results in variations in magnetotransport properties across different crystallographic directions, which can be characterized by studying microcrystals. To avoid the observed surface melting under room temperature Focused Ion Beam (FIB) irradiation, two low‐temperature FIB fabrication methods are proposed

Digital Discovery of Synthesizable Metal−Organic Frameworks via Molecular Dynamics‑Informed, High‑Fidelity Deep Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Tabular foundation model interrogates the synthetic likelihood of metal−organic frameworks. Abstract Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are celebrated for their chemical and structural versatility, and in‑silico screening has significantly accelerated their discovery; yet most hypothetical MOFs (hMOFs) never reach the bench because their synthetic ...

MPI‐Guided Photothermal Therapy of Prostate Cancer Using Stem Cell Delivery of Magnetotheranostic Nanoflowers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Tumor‐tropic human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) were used as delivery vehicles for magnetotheranostic gold–iron oxide nanoflowers. Magnetic particle imaging of the iron component demonstrated widespread intratumoral distribution and sustained retention in contrast to injection of naked nanoflowers.

An Ionic Gelation Powder for Ultrafast Hemostasis and Accelerated Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafast ionic gelation‐activated hemostatic powder (AGCL) forms a hydrogel within ≈1 s upon contact with blood‐derived calcium ions. The AGCL powder enables rapid hemorrhage control, strong tissue adhesion, and enhanced healing. The powder's pre‐crosslinked polymer network ensures high blood uptake and stability, offering effective treatment for ...
