Constructions for finite-state codes [PDF]
A class of codes called finite-state (FS) codes is defined and investigated. These codes, which generalize both block and convolutional codes, are defined by their encoders, which are finite-state machines with parallel inputs and outputs.

Coding with variable block maps
Let \(A\) be a finite alphabet and let \(A^+\), \(A^{\mathbb N}\) and \(A^{\mathbb Z}\) denote the set of finite, one-sided or two-sided infinite words over \(A\), respectively. By a pointed word is understood a finite word \(w\in A^+\) with a specified position, called the origin of \(w\), and a finite set \({\mathcal V}\) of pointed words, satisfying

Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

On the Many Faces of Block Codes
Block codes are first viewed as finite state automata represented as trellises. A technique termed subtrellis overlaying is introduced with the object of reducing decoder complexity. Necessary and sufficient conditions for subtrellis overlaying are next derived from the representation of the block code as a group, partitioned into a subgroup and its ...

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Interleaved block codes for the photon channel [PDF]
It is shown that interleavel binary block codes combined with pulse position modulation give the best practical coded systems yet devised for optical communication with photon detection.
