Mean Predictive Block Matching (MPBM) for fast block-matching motion estimation

3rd European Workshop on Visual Information Processing, 2011
In this paper, a new technique called Mean Predictive Block Matching (MPBM) is proposed. This technique is based on adaptive rood pattern search algorithm, in which the size is dynamically determined for each macroblock, based on the mean of two motion vectors of the neighboring macroblocks instead of one as is the case with adaptive rood patter search.

Healing-block-assisted quasi-phase matching [PDF]

open access: possibleOptics Letters, 2013
A quasi-phase matching (QPM) structure based on phase correction by inserting a "healing block" (HB) of length d(HB) into M regular domains of constant length d is proposed to enhance the nonlinear conversion efficiency when the first-order QPM domain length d1 is too short to be reliably fabricated.

Multitemporal SAR Image Despeckling Based on Block-Matching and Collaborative Filtering

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2017
We propose a despeckling algorithm for multitemporal synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images based on the concepts of block-matching and collaborative filtering.

Block-matching optical flow for dynamic vision sensors: Algorithm and FPGA implementation

International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2017
Rapid and low power computation of optical flow (OF) is potentially useful in robotics. The dynamic vision sensor (DVS) event camera produces quick and sparse output, and has high dynamic range, but conventional OF algorithms are frame-based and cannot ...

VLSI Architectures For Block Matching Algorithms

SPIE Proceedings, 1988
Architectures for the realization of block matching algorithms are discussed, with emphasis on highly concurrent systolic array processors. A mapping methodology for systolic arrays known from the literature is applied to block matching algorithms. Examples of two-dimensional and one-dimensional systolic arrays are presented.

Fast intra mode decision and block matching for HEVC screen content compression

IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2016
Screen content coding (SCC) is the latest extension of the High-Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) aiming to improve the compression efficiency of screen content video. With newly developed tools such as intra block copy (IntraBC) and palette (PLT) mode, SCC

A multi-block-matching approach for stereo

2015 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IV), 2015
Block-Matching stereo is commonly used in applications with low computing resources in order to get some rough depth estimates. However, research on this simple stereo estimation technique has been very scarce since the advent of energy-based methods ...

A Method for Match Key Blocking in Probabilistic Matching

2016
The pair-wise nature of Entity Resolution makes it impractical to perform on large datasets without the use of blocking. Many blocking techniques have been researched and applied to effectively reduce pair-wise comparisons in Boolean rule based systems while also providing 100 % match recall. However, these approaches do not always work when applied to

Lossless Image Compression by Block Matching

The Computer Journal, 1997
Lossless image compression has often employed techniques quite separate from those used for text compression or lossy image compression; most standards today employ modelling followed by coding (e.g. the JBIG standard, the IBM Q-coder, CCITT Group 4).

Hash-Based Block Matching for Screen Content Coding

IEEE transactions on multimedia, 2015
By considering the increasing importance of screen contents, the high efficiency video coding (HEVC) standard includes screen content coding as one of its requirements.
