Turbo code performance as a function of code block size

Proceedings. 1998 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (Cat. No.98CH36252), 2002
We show that a single family of turbo codes is "nearly perfect" with respect to Shannon's (1959) sphere-packing bound, over a wide range of code rates and block sizes. We also assess the "imperfectness" of various non-turbo codes for comparison,.

Laminated turbo codes: A new class of block-convolutional codes

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2008
In this paper, a new class of codes is presented that features a block-convolutional structure-namely, laminated turbo codes. It allows combining the advantages of both a convolutional encoder memory and a block permutor, thus allowing a block-oriented decoding method.

Space time block codes with turbo codes

2011
This paper aims to provide efficient solutions to improve the power efficiency, like implementation of schemes using MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output), with error correction codes. Thanks to the union of these two techniques is possible to obtain a low error probability with low power consumption. This paper shows STBC (Space Time Block Codes) with

Turbo block codes for the binary adder channel

Proceedings. International Symposium on Information Theory, 2005. ISIT 2005., 2005
A novel coding scheme for collaborative coding multiple access is introduced for practical application, which permits improving performance with the use of turbo ...

Efficient Decoding Technique for Block Product Turbo Codes

International Journal of Multimedia and Ubiquitous Engineering, 2016
In this paper, we propose an efficient technique for an iterative soft input soft output (SISO) decoding algorithm of block turbo codes with constituent Hamming codes. Pyndiah’s iterative decoding algorithm for block turbo codes supports various code rates by using concatenation, and shows high bit error rate (BER) performance in an additive white ...

Algebraic-Geometric Non-binary Block Turbo Codes

2014
In Chap. 2, the necessary mathematics needed to understand the design, construction, and encoding and decoding of AG codes were covered. This chapter will focus on the concept of block turbo design of AG codes constructed from Hermitian curves defined over finite fields, and the iterative decoding of the constructed block turbo codes using a HIHO ...

Block turbo codes for multicarrier local loop transmission

Proceedings IEEE 56th Vehicular Technology Conference, 2003
We investigate the performance of different block turbo codes in the context of Enhanced VDSL. We first describe the VDSL system used in our simulation link. We then propose an iterative decoding algorithm based on Pyndiah's (1998) SISO decoder for product turbo block codes that can be implemented with reasonable complexity.

Adaptive iterative decoding : block turbo codes and multilevel codes

2001
New adaptive, iterative approaches to the decoding of block Turbo codes and multilevel codes are developed. Block Turbo codes are considered as they can readily provide high data rates, low decoding complexity and good performance. Multilevel codes are considered as they provide a moderate complexity approach to a high complexity code and can provide ...
