Resource reallocation across successive systemic innovations: How Rolls‐Royce shaped the evolution of the turbojet, turboprop, and turbofan

open access: yesStrategic Management Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Research Summary Despite the importance of resource reallocation in shaping a variety of strategic outcomes, strategy scholars have paid only limited attention to the processes by which firms reallocate their resources across successive systemic innovations.

Inhibition of Targeted Bacterial Growth Using MazF‐Expressing Phagemids: A Novel Therapeutic Approach Based on Endoribonuclease Toxin Molecules

open access: yesMicrobiology and Immunology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The extensive and indiscriminate use of antibiotics, which are intended to halt bacterial growth or eliminate them, has unintentionally given rise to antimicrobial resistance (AMR), which is a critical threat to global health. In the pursuit of alternative solutions, researchers have focused on type II toxin–antitoxin systems prevalent within ...

The transformer gene controls sexual development in Drosophila suzukii

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
The transformer gene plays a key role in the genetic pathway for sexual development in Drosophila suzukii Abstract The genetic network of sex determination in the model organism Drosophila melanogaster was investigated in great detail. Such knowledge not only advances our understanding of the evolution and regulation of sexual dimorphism in insects ...

On the Error Performance of Coding and Equalization in Low-Complexity Ultra-Wideband Communication Systems

open access: yesJournal of Communications Software and Systems, 2006
In this paper, the performance of various channel coding schemes is investigated in pulse-based ultra-wideband(UWB) communication systems for applications in short-range indoor environments.

Performance comparison of convolutional and block turbo codes

open access: yesIEICE Electronics Express, 2006
Turbo code is recommended as a channel coding scheme, which has been shown to be capable of performing close to the Shannon Limit. In this paper, we compare the performance of both convolutional and block turbo codes over AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels.

Food Subsidies Reduce Livestock Depredations by a Recovering Carnivore

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, EarlyView.
Diversionary feeding—providing food caches to divert predators away from preying on livestock—is a strategy to reduce depredations by Mexican gray wolves but has not been evaluated for its effectiveness. We used data from the Mexican wolf recovery program from 2014‐2021 to evaluate whether diversionary feeding reduced livestock depredations by wolf ...

P-LDPC coded image transmission with OFDM over underwater acoustic channel

open access: yesActa Polytechnica
Underwater environment is still an attractive area to explore and exploit by human beings. However, underwater characteristics limit communications due to harsh channel conditions, and efficient channel codes are essential to deploy. This study presents

Revealing the Diverse Allergenic Protein Repertoire of Six Widely Consumed Crab Species: A Species‐Specific Allergen in King Crab

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
This study comprehended the allergen profiles of six edible crab species using proteomic and transcriptomic analyses and identified 11 putative allergens. King crab has a distinct protein and allergen profile, with the discovery of malate dehydrogenase as a novel king crab‐specific allergen registered as Para c 11.

High throughput implementation of an adaptive serial concatenation turbo decoder

open access: yesJournal of Communications Software and Systems, 2006
The complete design of a new high throughput adaptive turbo decoder is described. The developed system isprogrammable in terms of block length, code rate and modulation scheme, which can be dinamically changed from frame to frame, according to varied ...

BRD9 inhibition as potential treatment option for testicular germ cell tumors

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Testicular germ cell tumors (TGCT) are the predominant tumor in younger males. Usually, 5‐year survival rates are quite high, but 15–20% of patients with metastatic non‐seminomas are resistant to standard cisplatin‐based therapy.
