Pediatric neuraxial blockade

Journal of Clinical Anesthesia, 1993
Regional anesthetic techniques for children have recently enjoyed a justified resurgence in popularity. Intraoperative blockade of the neuraxis, whether by the spinal or epidural route, provides excellent analgesia with minimal physiologic alteration and, with an indwelling catheter, can provide continuous pain relief for many days postoperatively.

Neuromuscular Blockade Monitoring

Anesthesiology Clinics, 2021
Neuromuscular monitoring is essential for optimal management of neuromuscular blocking drugs. Postoperative residual neuromuscular blockade continues to occur with an unacceptably high incidence and is associated with adverse patient outcomes. Use of a peripheral nerve stimulator and subjective tactile or visual assessment is useful for intraoperative ...

Combined Androgen Blockade

European Urology, 1989
Combined androgen blockade (CAB), the addition of an antiandrogen to castration (medical or surgical), is becoming a well-established option for advanced prostate cancer. CAB with leuprolide and flutamide was found to improve both progression-free and overall survival, compared with leuprolide alone, particularly in patients with minimal metastatic ...

Immune Checkpoint Blockade

Hematology/Oncology Clinics of North America, 2014
Since the development and approval of Ipilimumab, the first immune checkpoint inhibitor licensed for the treatment of metastatic melanoma, clinicians have gained a better understanding of the mode of action, management of toxicities, and assessment of response to this class of drugs.

Universal Photon Blockade

Physical Review Letters
Photon blockades are traditionally classified into conventional and unconventional types, depending on distinct physical mechanisms. Regarding the cavity decay rate κ, the conventional photon blockade takes place under strong nonlinearity condition (g>κ), whereas the unconventional photon blockade occurs in the regime of weak nonlinearity (gκ and ...
