Minimization of Blocking Probability

2002
In an all-optical WDM network, the route of a pair of communication nodes usually consists of multiple hops. If a transmission can occupy the same wavelength on every hop, it can then remain in optical form within the network. Otherwise, it encounters wavelength conflict and it has to be blocked.

Error probability for block codes over channels with block interference

Proceedings of GLOBECOM'96. 1996 IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference, 1998
A methodology is presented to evaluate analytically the average decoded error probability for block codes over block interference channels. The proposed analysis is based on the knowledge of the moments of the bit error probability over the fading channel, thus allowing, e.g., fast performance evaluation of block coded slow frequency hopping (SFH ...

Theoretical blocking probability for SDMA

IEE Proceedings - Communications, 1999
Designers of modern wireless communication systems are widely considering the employment of space division multiple access (SDMA) technology as a means of increasing the capacity of their systems. The authors derive a theoretical expression to calculate the blocking probability resulting from use of SDMA technology in two different schemes of channel ...

An analytical model on network blocking probability

IEEE Communications Letters, 1997
We present a new analytical model on the blocking probability of the three-stage Clos (1953) network. Due to the effect of approximations, a common problem with previously proposed analytical models is that they may not be very accurate in some cases.

An improvement on blocking probability for SDMA

2001 IEEE Third Workshop on Signal Processing Advances in Wireless Communications (SPAWC'01). Workshop Proceedings (Cat. No.01EX471), 2002
Space division multiple access (SDMA) is a technique that can be superimposed on traditional multiple access schemes such as frequency division multiple access (FDMA), time division multiple access (TDMA) or code division multiple access (CDMA) to increase the system capacity.

On the decoder error probability of block codes

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1992
Summary: By using coding and combinational techniques, an explicit formula is derived which enumerates the complete weight distribution of decodable words of block codes using partially known weight distributions. Also an approximation formula for nonbinary block codes is obtained.

Block and decoded error probabilities of DPSK in AWGN

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1994
In this letter, we consider the error correlation in differential phase-shift keying (DPSK) demodulation in terms of its effects on the block and decoded error probabilities. The exact block and decoded error probabilities are derived and computed for additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN).

A Study of Blocking Probability in WDM Network

2002
Calculating blocking probabilities in a network is hard work to do. Also transmission limitations and network upgrade strategies are all expected to mean that different links in a wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) network are expected to have different number of light channels per link.

Blocking Probability Estimation for Trunk Reservation Networks

2007 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2007
In this paper, we consider the problem of estimating steady-state blocking probability for circuit-switched networks with alternate routing. In particular, we focus on networks protected by trunk reservation. A new blocking probability estimate, the so-called overflow priority classification approximation (OPCA), is considered as an alternative to the ...

A blocking probability study for the aethereal network-on-chip

2016 11th International Design & Test Symposium (IDT), 2016
The AEthereal network-on-chip and its later variations cover an important role in the on-chip communications field for their capability of ensuring deterministic delivery. This AEthereal feature is offered by the time-driven forwarding operation, which however also introduces possible connection blocking in the system, i.e., a proper time schedule for ...
