Hemodynamical Behavior Analysis of Anemic, Diabetic, and Healthy Blood Flow in the Carotid Artery [PDF]
The influence of blood rheology on hemodynamic parameters is investigated using Computational Fluid Dynamics on blood flow through the human carotid artery. We performed three-dimensional modeling and simulation to study blood flow through the carotid artery, which is divided into internal and exterior parts with a decreased radius.

GPU-accelerated Red Blood Cells Simulations with Transport Dissipative Particle Dynamics [PDF]
Mesoscopic numerical simulations provide a unique approach for the quantification of the chemical influences on red blood cell functionalities. The transport Dissipative Particles Dynamics (tDPD) method can lead to such effective multiscale simulations due to its ability to simultaneously capture mesoscopic advection, diffusion, and reaction.

Shape Optimization of hemolysis for shear thinning flows in moving domains [PDF]
We consider the $3$D problem of shape optimization of blood flows in moving domains. Such a geometry is adopted to take into account the modeling of rotating systems and blood pumps for instance. The blood flow is described by generalized Navier-Stokes equations, in the particular case of shear-thinning flows.

Systemic Metabolomic Changes in Blood Samples of Lung Cancer Patients Identified by Gas Chromatography Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry. [PDF]
Lung cancer is a leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. Metabolic alterations in tumor cells coupled with systemic indicators of the host response to tumor development have the potential to yield blood profiles with clinical utility for diagnosis and ...

Practical Application of Thrombin in Our Urological Clinic [PDF]
The protective functions of bleeding in our living body are constriction of blood vessels, blood coagulation and coagulation of blood-plasma, and we know that the principle of blood coagulation is the transformation of Fibrinogen to Fibrin.

A study on the discrimination of human skeletons using X-ray fluorescence and chemometric tools in chemical anthropology [PDF]
Forensic anthropological investigations are often restricted in their outcomes by the resources allocated to them, especially in terms of positively identifying the victims exhumed from commingled mass graves.

Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...

Angiogenesis: A Model of Cell Differentiation [PDF]
Angiogenesis is the formation of blood vessels, and is of great importance in the growth of tumours. Attempts have been made to desgin experiments in petri-dishes that mimic the 'Conditions of tumour growth. The first of the experiments is the 'matrigel'
