Correlation of Salivary Glucose Level with Blood Glucose Level in Diabetes Mellitus

open access: yeseJournal of Oral Maxillofacial Research, 2012
Objectives: There is alarming rise in number of people with diabetes mellitus over these years. If glucose in saliva is linked to glucose in blood it can be used to detect diabetes mellitus at an early stage.

Effects of Sampling and Storage Method on Chicken Blood Glucose Measurement

open access: yesThe Journal of Poultry Science, 2020
Glucose is a major circulating carbohydrate in birds and its level in the blood is often used as a biometric indicator in clinical diagnosis and various studies.

A Study on the Correlation between Cord Blood Glucose Level and the Apgar Score [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2013
Introduction: The study of the biochemical parameters of cord blood acts as a mirror, which usually reflects the neonatal status. The widely used system for the evaluation of a neonate is the Apgar score.

Liver organoids: modelling complexity in homeostasis and disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Studying liver in vitro has been challenging because simple 2D cell cultures fail to capture liver's cellular and architectural complexity. To bridge this gap, scientists increasingly use organoids, 3D liver models which better mimic liver composition and function. This review examines recent advances in liver organoid complexity and realism, discusses

The Correlation of Blood Glucose with Salivary Glucose Level in Diabetic Patients

open access: yesJournal of Islamic Dental Association of Iran, 2014
Background and Aim: Finding a relationship between the blood glucose level and its concentration in other body fluids such as the saliva can help in developing a conservative method for blood sugar assessment replacing venous sampling .The aim of this ...

Partial depletion of plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1 decreases subcutaneous fat cell hypertrophy and liver cholesterol in high‐fat‐fed female mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.

Prediction of Flap Survival Using Flap Blood Glucose Level [PDF]

open access: yesZagazig University Medical Journal
Background: Flap viability is crucial for reconstructive surgery success, with vascular compromise being the main cause of failure. Postoperative monitoring, including glucose measurement, provides an objective, cost-effective method to detect ischemia ...

Metastatic niche shaped by host factors influences disseminated cancer cell fate

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Metastasis is shaped not only by cancer cells but also by the environments they encounter. This review explores how factors such as aging, diet, the microbiome, lifestyle, and environmental exposures remodel organ‐specific niches in the lung, liver, bone, and brain, influencing where metastatic cells survive, remain dormant, or grow, and ultimately ...

Predicting Blood Glucose Level in Malaysian Women Based on Glutathione and Anthropometric Parameters

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Technology, 2021
Blood glucose is conventionally determined by the level of sugar present in our blood. Lesser known to the public that antioxidants in our body are also said to influence the level of blood glucose. Glutathione (GSH) as the main antioxidant parameter in

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
