Blood group incompatibilities in pregnancy.
Hemolytic disease is the result of red blood cell antibody transfer from mother to fetus causing destruction of fetal red blood cells. Cell destruction is due to the antigen-antibody reaction. While Rh incompatibility has been rendered preventible, there are many other blood groups which can cause the same disease.
