Maximising living donation with paediatric blood-group-incompatible renal transplantation
Pediatric Nephrology, 2012Long-term outcomes for paediatric renal transplant recipients have improved over the last 20 years, with better patient and renal allograft survival. As paediatric renal transplantation programmes have increased over this timeframe, living donation has become the favoured modality for renal replacement therapy and is advocated pre-emptively in as many ...

DR3 Is Associated with Type 1 Diabetes and Blood Group ABO Incompatibility
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2002Abstract: Type 1 diabetes is associated with autoimmunity against pancreatic β cells. ABO incompatibility is associated with ABO immunization during pregnancy. Type 1 diabetes is associated with certain HLA DR and DQ haplotypes. The mechanism by which blood group incompatibility is associated with the risk of type 1 diabetes is not known.

ABO BLOOD GROUP INCOMPATIBILITY IN LIVER TRANSPLANTATION: A SINGLE‐CENTRE EXPERIENCE
Australian and New Zealand Journal of Surgery, 1997Background: For most organ transplantation (Tx), ABO blood group incompatibility (ABOI) is an absolute contraindication because of the high incidence of hyperacute rejection (HAR). While HAR occurs in ABOI liver Tx (LTx), it is known that some liver grafts can be accepted.

Phototherapy of jaundice in newborn infants. I. ABO blood group incompatibility
The Journal of Pediatrics, 1971A controlled study of phototherapy was carried out in 35 infants with neonatal hyperbilirubinemia due to maternal-fetal ABO blood group incompatibility. Sixteen of the subjects weighed less than 2,500 Gm. at birth, and 19 weighed 2,500 Gm. or more. Phototherapy caused a marked decline of serum bilirubin concentration at a time when such levels were ...

Hemotherapy in patients undergoing blood group incompatible bone marrow transplantation
Transfusion, 1983The management of hemotherapy in 31 cases of ABO‐ or Rh‐incompatible bone marrow transplantation is described. Our experience confirms that ABO or Rh incompatibility does not adversely affect engraftment, patient survival, or incidence of graft‐versus‐host disease.

Immune Desensitization Allows Pediatric Blood Group Incompatible Kidney Transplantation
Transplantation, 2017Blood group incompatible transplantation (ABOi) in children is rare as pretransplant conditioning remains challenging and concerns persist about the potential increased risk of rejection. We describe the results of 11 ABOi pediatric renal transplant recipients in the 2 largest centers in the United Kingdom, sharing the same tailored desensitization ...
