Intraoperative Collection of Ascitic Fluid With Intra‐ or Postoperative Reinfusion in Ovarian Cancer: Safety and Feasibility of a Roller Pumping Method

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients with ovarian cancer often present with massive ascites, leading to significant protein loss during surgical procedures. Although cell‐free concentrated ascites reinfusion therapy (CART) is used in palliative settings to mitigate protein loss, its application in intraoperative settings remains unexplored.

Comparative Study of Two Different Intravenous Doses of Tranexamic Acid with Placebo on Surgical Field Quality in Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery-A Randomised Clinical Trial [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2019
Introduction: Intraoperative haemorrhage, which disrupts surgical patency, is a major obstacle for surgeons, especially in endoscopic sinus surgeries. Tranexamic acid is synthetic antifibrinolytic agent that binds competitively at lysine binding site on ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Structural changes in intestinal enteroendocrine cells after ileal interposition in normal rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
INTRODUCTION: No therapeutic approach has significantly impacted the progression of diabetes. As early improvement of glicaemic control is observed after bariatric surgeries, there is currently a search for surgical procedures that can promote euglycemia

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Estimated Blood Loss in Craniotomy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Introduction: Estimated blood loss is an estimation of how much blood is loss during surgery. Surgical procedure requires a preparation of blood stock, but the demand for blood often larger than the actual blood used.
