Exploring the role of cyclin D1 in the pathogenesis of multiple myeloma beyond cell cycle regulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cyclin D1 overexpression altered the cell adhesion pathway, while cyclin D2 upregulation had less impact on pathway enrichment analysis. Multiple myeloma (MM) patients with cyclin D1 overexpression showed reduced CD56 expression and increased circulating tumor cells (CTC) levels, suggesting that cyclin D1 may contribute to MM cell dissemination ...

Relationship Between Surgery Timing and Hidden Blood Loss in Proximal Femoral Nailing of Pertrochanteric Fractures in Elderly Patients

open access: yesPhilippine Journal of Orthopaedics
Objectives. Pertrochanteric fractures, commonly incurred by the elderly from low-energy falls, require surgical management. Visible blood loss in the perioperative period is inconsistent with the big drop in hemoglobin seen postoperatively.

The Benefit of Sleeve Gastrectomy in Obese Adolescents on Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis and Hepatic Fibrosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Objective To determine whether bariatric surgery is effective for the treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) in adolescence, we compared the efficacy of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) with that of lifestyle intervention (nonsurgical ...

Targeting of PTP4A3 overexpression sensitises HGSOC cells towards chemotherapeutic drugs

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In HGSOC with normal KRAS expression, high PTP4A3 expression regulates autophagy activation. Conversely, in HGSOC with high KRAS expression, KRAS dictates autophagy control, and PTP4A3 is not required. When high PTP4A3 expression is inhibited, HGSOC cells are preferentially sensitised towards DNA‐damaging agents.

Predicting intraoperative major blood loss in microsurgery for brain arteriovenous malformations

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
ObjectiveIntraoperative blood loss poses a great challenge for brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM) microsurgery, although systematic researches are still lacking. This study aimed to identify factors predicting intraoperative major blood loss in brain

Single‐cell transcriptomics redefines focal neuroendocrine differentiation as a distinct prostate cancer pathology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell transcriptomics of prostate cancer patient‐derived xenografts reveals distinct features of neuroendocrine (NE) subtypes. Tumours with focal NE differentiation (NED) share transcriptional programmes with adenocarcinoma, differing from large and small cell neuroendocrine prostate cancer (NEPC). Our work defines the molecular landscape of NEPC,

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.
