Pulse oximetry at two sensor placement sites in conscious foals

open access: yesActa Veterinaria Scandinavica
Background Pulse oximetry has not been thoroughly evaluated for assessment of oxygenation in conscious foals. Compared with invasive arterial blood sampling, it is a painless and non-invasive method for real-time monitoring of blood oxygen saturation ...

Molecular Editing Reveals a Bilobalide Chemotype that Attenuates Prolyl Endopeptidase (PREP)‐Linked Neuroinflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Molecular editing of bilobalide uncovers BB56, a PREP‐engaging chemotype with enhanced anti‐inflammatory activity in microglia. Integrated CETSA‐MS, SAR, and pathway analyses link BB56 to attenuation of p38 MAPK/NF‐κB and NLRP3‐associated inflammatory signaling, highlighting bilobalide editing as a strategy for developing neuroinflammation‐modulating ...

Harnessing Phase Separation for the Development of High‐Performance Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hydrogels are indispensable for the development of next‐generation bioelectronics, soft robotics, and biomedical devices, where their mechanical properties determine performance and reliability. Among strategies to enhance hydrogel mechanics, phase separation enables controlled heterogeneity resulting in gel networks that are reinforced by ...

Comparative efficiency of oxygen therapy in patients (smokers and non-smokers) with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

open access: yesRussian Open Medical Journal, 2012
The decrease in clinical efficacy of oxygen therapy takes place in patients suffering from chronic pulmonary obstructive disease who continue smoking even if the intensity of smoking is getting lower.

Synchronization‐Dissipation in the Cardiorespiratory System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By modeling central nervous coupling and viscoelastic interactions in the cardiorespiratory system we show that synchronization produces a 10% gain in cardiac efficiency in humans. It is surmised that respiratory sinus arrhythmia improves cardiac pumping efficiency by reducing dynamic stress and power dissipation in the pulmonary vasculature.

Effects of Intratracheal Suctioning on Hemodynamic Parameters and Arterial Oxygen

open access: yesنشریه پرستاری ایران, 2008
Background and Aim: Intratracheal suctioning is a standard method of nursing care for intubated patients with the aim of cleaning airway for good oxygenation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of intratracheal suctioning on blood pressure,

RPLP2 Mediates the Beneficial Effects of Exercise on Stress Resistance Through Muscle–Brain Communication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel exercise‐inducible myokine acidic ribosomal protein P2 (RPLP2), initially identified from human trials, is presented here, whose circulating levels negatively correlate with clinical anxiety severity. Muscle‐derived RPLP2 enhances hippocampal ribosomal assembly and adult neurogenesis to rescue stress‐induced anxiety deficits.

Cobalt Single‐Atom Nanozyme for Enhanced Intestinal Radioprotection and Tumor Radiosensitization via Bidirectional ROS Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Orally administered, pH‐responsive Co‐SAN exerts dual functions: in the alkaline intestinal milieu, it scavenges reactive oxygen species (ROS) and suppresses the PI3K/AKT pathway and NETs formation, thus providing radioprotection; whereas in the acidic tumor microenvironment, it generates ROS and alleviates hypoxia, thereby enhancing radiosensitization.

Ti‐Doping Activates Adjacent Zr Sites in Bimetallic MOFs for Cooperative Phospholipid Removals in Human Biomonitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ti‐doped Zr/Ti bimetallic MOFs activate neighboring Zr sites to selectively capture phospholipids from serum through cooperative interactions. In nontargeted screening, the material minimizes matrix interference, expands detectable feature coverage, and enables broad recovery of diverse chemical hazards, providing a powerful cleanup strategy for LC ...

Coordination‐Tuned Iridium Single‐Atom Nanozymes Boost Multienzyme Activity for Colorimetric Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Breaking the coordination symmetry of Ir single‐atom sites through asymmetric Ir–N3S1 engineering tailors interfacial electron transfer, oxygen activation, and multienzyme‐like catalytic pathways. Operando spectroscopy and theoretical modeling uncover the atomic‐level origin of activity enhancement, providing a strategy for designing multifunctional ...
