Ear oximeter-transducer monitors four physiological responses [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
Device monitors blood oxygen saturation, blood pressure, pulse rate, and pulse-pressure curve during conditions of high stress in simulated space ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Accuracy of pulse interval timing in ambulatory blood pressure measurement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Blood pressure (BP) monitors rely on pulse detection. Some blood pressure monitors use pulse timings to analyse pulse interval variability for arrhythmia screening, but this assumes that the pulse interval timings detected from BP cuffs are accurate ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

CAUSES OF UNCONTROLLED BLOOD PRESSURE IN THE OVER-65 POPULATION

open access: yesARYA Atherosclerosis, 2010
INTRODUCTION: Hypertension is a major cause of cardiovascular disease and the prevalence of hypertension shows a linear increase with aging so that it increases by 10 percent every 10 years.

Life events and acute cardiovascular reactions to mental stress: a cohort study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Objective: This study addressed the issue of whether frequent exposure to life events is associated with aggravation or blunting of cardiovascular reactions to acute mental stress.

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

BLOOD PRESSURE LEVELS AND TRENDS OF OBESITY IN HYPERTENSIVE PATIENTS VERSUS HEALTH INDIVIDUALS: ISFAHAN 1991-2001

open access: yesARYA Atherosclerosis, 2010
Introduction: Obesity is an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Several clinical studies have shown that blood pressure decreases significantly with reduction of body weight.

Postprandial Hypotension due to a Lack of Sympathetic Compensation in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Postprandial hypotension is an important hemodynamic abnormality in diabetes mellitus, but few reports are available on the relationship between autonomic dysfunction and postprandial hypotension.
