Correlates of the Hemodynamic Determinants of Blood Pressure
Hypertension, 1996The purpose of this study was to investigate the association of sex, race, lean body mass, and fat mass with the hemodynamic determinants of blood pressure, including stroke volume, heart rate, and total peripheral vascular resistance. The study included 201 subjects aged 6 to 17 years, 105 of whom were male and 98 of whom were black. Lean

Genetic determinants of blood pressure regulation
Journal of Hypertension, 2005Hypertension is a multifactorial disorder that probably results from the inheritance of a number of susceptibility genes and involves multiple environmental determinants. Existing evidence suggests that the genetic contribution to blood pressure variation is about 30-50%.

Genetic Determinants of Blood Pressure Regulation
The Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing, 1999Blood pressure homeostasis in humans reflects the coordinate interactions of cardiac output, peripheral vascular resistance, renal volume control, and CNS integration in response to short- and long-term environmental stimuli. Variations in mean arterial pressure within the population include a significant hereditary component.

DEVELOPMENTAL DETERMINANTS OF BLOOD PRESSURE IN ADULTS
Annual Review of Nutrition, 2005▪ Abstract Over the past 20 years a large and varied body of research has attempted to make the case for the developmental origins of elevated adult blood pressure (BP). Experimental animal research has identified plausible biological mechanisms through which fetal nutritional insufficiency may affect adult BP.

Determinants of blood pressure in childhood and adolescence
Journal of Hypertension, 1989Relationships between blood pressure and dietary factors were investigated in 434 boys and 450 girls aged 9 years. Dietary data were obtained from a food-frequency questionnaire which was completed by parents. This was used to estimate daily energy intake and the intake of 14 nutrients considered likely to influence blood pressure.

Nutrition-related determinants of blood pressure
Preventive Medicine, 1985The importance of high blood pressure as a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVD) has led to extensive research in the etiology of hypertension. Regulation of blood pressure (BP) in humans involves many different organs and physiological processes that contribute either directly to the determination of BP level or indirectly by modifying ...

Determinants of blood pressure in Jerusalem schoolchildren
Preventive Medicine, 1984In 1982, 113 first- and second-graders attending an elementary school in West Jerusalem had their blood pressure (BP), height, weight, and resting pulse measured. Three successive BP readings were taken. The mean of the second and third readings was used for data analysis.

Recommendations for Blood Pressure Determination by Sphygmomanometry
Annals of Internal Medicine, 1988Excerpt How many times each day does the average internist take a patient's blood pressure? How many more times each day does the internist review blood pressure measurements obtained by others?

Home Blood Pressure Determination
JAMA, 1974Self-determined home blood pressure readings taken by 112 patients with borderline hypertension were compared to values of 49 normotensive controls. Thirty percent of patients with borderline hypertensive readings in the clinic were hypertensive at home; only 28% of patients were clearly normotensive.
