Low-dose transdermal hormone therapy does not interfere with the blood pressure of hypertensive menopausal women: a pilot study

open access: yes, 2008
Objectives To determine the effects of low-dose transdermal hormone therapy (HT) on systolic (SBP) and diastolic (DBP) blood pressure (BP) evaluated by 24-h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) in hypertensive postmenopausal women.

Fusogenic RNA Nanomodules for Fusion‐Mediated and Multiplexed siRNA Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fusogenic lipid‐layered RNA nanomodules (L‐CRAMs) enable high‐capacity and long‐lasting siRNA delivery through membrane fusion. These nanomodules carry exceptionally large siRNA payloads, avoid conventional endosomal uptake, and release multiple functional siRNAs through Dicer‐mediated processing.

Use of Residential Blood Pressure Monitoring as a Tool in Pharmaceutical Care – Baseline Assessment of the MINOR Clinical Trial

open access: yesJornal de Assistência Farmacêutica e Farmacoeconomia
Introduction: Hypertension is a chronic condition that requires constant monitoring and adjustment of drug therapy. Home Blood Pressure Monitoring (HBPM) has proven to be an effective tool in this process, allowing for a more accurate assessment of ...

Comparison of blood pressure measurements between an automated oscillometric device and a Hawksley random-zero sphygmomanometer in the northern Sweden MONICA study

open access: yes, 2012
BACKGROUND: The Hawksley random-zero sphygmomanometer (random-zero) has been used widely in epidemiological observation studies. This study compares blood pressure measurements using the random-zero with measurements using an automated oscillometric ...

Multifunctional Neutrophil Nanovesicles Induce Remodeling of Tumor Immune Microenvironment and Synergistic Multimodal Tumor Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of the engineered RN@FDT for multimodal tumor therapy. a) Fabrication of FD&DOX/TFA‐loaded RGD‐NNV (RN@FDT) and the light‐triggered disassemble of RN@FDT. b) After internalized by tumor cells, RN@FDT are disintegrated under NIR‐II laser irradiation to boost PTT and induce cell apoptosis.

Continuous and Cuffless Blood Pressure Monitoring Based on ECG and SpO2 Signals By Using Microsoft Visual C Sharp

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Physics and Engineering, 2014
Background: One of the main problems especially in operating room and monitoring devices is measurement of Blood Pressure (BP) by sphygmomanometer cuff. Objective: In this study we designed a new method to measure BP changes continuously for detecting

Myogenic Fusogen‐Engineered Lipid Nanoparticles Enhance mRNA Delivery in Skeletal Muscle

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports a biomimetic strategy of engineering full‐length Myomaker, a muscle‐specific fusogen, into lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) to harness the native myoblast fusion capability for skeletal muscle mRNA delivery. The resulting Mymk‐LNPs enhance transfection in differentiating myocytes and enable Cre‐mediated reporter activation in injured ...

Discordant prevalence of hypertension using two different automated blood pressure measurement devices: a population-based study in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania).

open access: yes, 2004
OBJECTIVE: The estimation of blood pressure is dependent on the accuracy of the measurement devices. We compared blood pressure readings obtained with an automated oscillometric arm-cuff device and with an automated oscillometric wrist-cuff device and ...
