MicroRNA profiling from dried blood samples

Critical Reviews in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, 2019
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) hold great promise as blood-borne and circulating biomarkers for numerous diseases. However, the reliability of such liquid biopsies is particularly impacted by problems associated with the handling of biological liquids in the pre-analytical stage of biomarker processing.

Blood Testing in Sport: Hematological Profiling

International Journal of Sports Medicine, 2010
Hemoglobin concentration and percent reticulocytes (%retics) were analyzed in blood samples taken pre-competition, post-competition, and during out of competition testing in elite speed skaters. Percent reticulocytes during screening was not different from the values obtained post-race, and no significant gender difference was found.

Fourier Analysis of Blood Pressure Profiles

American Journal of Hypertension, 1993
This short review deals with the use of the Fourier technique to analyze diurnal blood pressure (BP) profiles obtained by noninvasive ambulatory monitoring. A Fourier series with four harmonics strikes an acceptable balance between the accuracy and complexity required to model the diurnal profile accurately in most subjects. A weighting procedure makes

Metabolite Profiling in Blood Plasma

2006
Metabolite profiling has been established as a multiparallel strategy for relative quantification of a mixture of compounds or compound classes using chromatography and universal detection technologies (gas chromatography-mass spectrometry [GC-MS], liquid chromatography-MS).

Blood pressure profile in Nigerian children

East African Medical Journal, 2009
To observe blood pressure (BP) pattern and its correlates in primary school children of northern Nigeria.Sitting BP and pulse were measured in quadruplicate, then repeated after four weeks in 1,721 healthy children aged five to 16 years. Body weight and height were also measured in their school environment.Primary schools located in three communities ...

24-hour blood pressure profile in centenarians

Journal of Hypertension, 2002
Ambulatory blood pressure in the elderly has been studied in the past, the age range most frequently examined being 65 to 80 years. The present study was aimed at determining 24-h blood pressure means and profile in centennial human beings.Sphygmomanometric blood pressure (average of three values) and 24-h ambulatory blood pressure measurements were ...

Flow Rate Profiler: an instrument to measure blood velocity profiles

Ultrasonics, 2001
In this paper we present Flow Rate Profiler (FRP), an instrument for measuring the blood velocity by means of ultrasound-based techniques. The velocity is directly related to the shear rate, which is in turn proportional to the shear stress, a parameter expressing the pressure exerted by the blood on the vessel walls.

Quantitative Blood Typing Profiles of Human Erythrocytes

Transfusion, 1971
Automated, sequential, quantitative blood typing has been achieved by modification of two previously described single channel AutoAnalyzers. In each of these channels, agglutination has been potentiated, either with bromelin and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP K‐90) or mannitol and protamine sulfate.

CAPILLARY-BLOOD COAGULATION PROFILE IN THE NEWBORN

The Lancet, 1973
Abstract A capillary-blood micromethod has been developed to allow serial screening of newborn infants for coagulation defects. The resulting coagulation profile, consisting of 6 tests done daily or twice daily, has revealed an abnormality in 71% of sixty-three infants admitted to a specialcare unit.
