Sex‐ and Time‐Resolved Physiological and Gut Ecosystem Responses to a Food‐Grade Microbiome‐Targeted Intervention in Collegiate Endurance Athletes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In collegiate endurance athletes, a 6‐week randomized CPYE intervention yielded time‐ and sex‐dependent shifts in field‐based cardiorespiratory, metabolic, and redox indices, accompanied by changes in gut multi‐omics profiles. An exploratory extension during intensified training generates hypotheses warranting future validation.

A review of Candida species causing blood stream infection

open access: yesIndian Journal of Medical Microbiology, 2012
The incidence of candidemia has been on a rise worldwide. The epidemiology of invasive fungal infections in general and of candidemia in particular has changed in the past three decades because of a variety of factors like the AIDS epidemic, increased number of patients receiving immunosuppressive therapy for transplantation and the increasing use of ...

Expanding Genetic Code to Generate Human Brain Organoids with Both Vasculature and Microglia‐Like Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using genetic code expansion, we engineered vascularized human cerebral organoids (vhCOs) with microglia‐like cells and blood‐brain barrier features. vhCOs recapitulate neurovascular interactions, regional identities, and neuronal subtypes resembling the fetal brain.

Reducing Blood Stream Infections in the ICU with Chlorhexidine Baths

open access: yes, 2016
Patients in the ICU who become hemodynamically unstable are often given a central line for long term vascular access. Many of these patients are immunosuppressed and have some sort of hematologic malignancy.

Oral Recombinant Human Collagen III Protects Gastric Mucosa via G‐Quadruplex‐Mediated Activation of the Pla2g4a‐Prostaglandin Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Orally administered recombinant human type III collagen protects the gastric mucosa from ethanol‐induced injury by coordinating redox homeostasis, epithelial barrier repair, and arachidonic acid–prostaglandin metabolism. Gastric digestion releases the pentapeptide GPAEF, which interacts with the Pla2g4a promoter G‐quadruplex in a structure‐dependent ...

Sustainable Hydrogel‐Forming Microneedle‐Reservoir Patches for Transdermal Delivery of Hydrophilic Macromolecules: Biopolymers, Green Manufacturing and Translation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hydrogel‐forming microneedle (HFMN)‐reservoir patches provide a modular route for controlled transdermal delivery of hydrophilic biomacromolecules. The platform integrates skin‐barrier penetration, sustainable biopolymers, scalable green manufacturing, hydration‐driven transport, model‐cargo validation, and translational quality requirements.
