Emerging role of ARHGAP29 in melanoma cell phenotype switching
This study gives first insights into the role of ARHGAP29 in malignant melanoma. ARHGAP29 was revealed to be connected to tumor cell plasticity, promoting a mesenchymal‐like, invasive phenotype and driving tumor progression. Further, it modulates cell spreading by influencing RhoA/ROCK signaling and affects SMAD2 activity. Rho GTPase‐activating protein

Panax ginseng has no effect on indices of glucose regulation following acute or chronic ingestion in healthy volunteers [PDF]
In the absence of effective pharmacotherapy for diabetes there has been an increase in the use of, and research into, alternative treatment strategies. These include exercise, dietary interventions and the use of supplements including extracts of ginseng.

Induction of functional islet-like cells from human iPS cells by suspension culture
Introduction: To complement islet transplantation for type1 diabetic patients, cell-based therapy using pluripotent stem cells such as ES cells and iPS cells is promising.

An Introduction to Destructive Coordination [PDF]
Polanyi (1944, [1957] 1968) has distinguished three 'patterns of social integration,' namely 'reciprocity', 'redistribution' and 'exchange.' This triad has provided the starting point for most subsequent discussion.

Transcript-indexed ATAC-seq for precision immune profiling. [PDF]
T cells create vast amounts of diversity in the genes that encode their T cell receptors (TCRs), which enables individual clones to recognize specific peptide-major histocompatibility complex (MHC) ligands. Here we combined sequencing of the TCR-encoding

This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Non-Triple Helical Form of Type IV Collagen α1 Chain
Type IV collagen with a triple-helical structure composed of three α chains is a major component of basement membrane. Previously, we reported that non-triple helical form of type IV collagen α1 chain (NTHα1(IV)) was isolated from human placenta and the ...
