Assessment of skin in patients with systemic sclerosis using high‐frequency ultrasound and shear wave elastography: A comparative study with histology, molecular and clinical parameters

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Ultrasound (US) has been proposed as a potential tool for assessing skin fibrosis in systemic sclerosis (SSc). However, a large‐scale comparison of US‐based assessment with histological markers of skin fibrosis has not been reported. We evaluated the US‐based skin assessments for their face validity (differentiation between involved SSc and ...

Effect of combining F-EMS and MSR on the segregation and shrinkage cavity in continuously cast high-carbon steel blooms

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2017
This study established a two-dimensional mathematical model of solidification and heat transfer for a bloom with a 310 mm×360 mm cross-section using ANSYS software, which was verified by nail-shooting experiments in the narrow side of the bloom and ...

Numerical simulation of dehydrogenation annealing in bloom

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2020
Due to moisture in the ore, auxiliary material, and ladle refractory material, the hydrogen element is easily enriched in molten steel. In the metallurgy process, some hydrogen atoms form bubbles and are removed by gravity, whearas others solidify in the

The Effects of Suspended Particulate Matter, Nutrient, and Salinity on the Growth of Amphidinium carterae Under Estuary Environmental Conditions

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2021
The environmental conditions in estuaries display distinct variability along the river-ocean mixing continuum from turbid, eutrophic freshwater to clear, oligotrophic offshore oceanic water.

Unrolling of Syngonium podophyllum: Functional Anatomy, Morphology and Modelling of Its Peltate Leaves

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The unrolling of the peltate leaves in Syngonium podophyllum is analyzed and quantified (left‐hand side to center). These measurements serve to verify a mathematical model for leaf unrolling based on the model used in Schmidt (2007). An additional formula for obtaining a layer mismatch from a prescribed radius is derived.

The cyanobacterium Gloeotrichia echinulata increases the stability and network complexity of phytoplankton communities

open access: yesEcosphere, 2017
Changes in the abundance of a taxon can have large effects on communities, particularly if that taxon is a strong interactor. These changes may arise as a consequence of environmental change, recruitment from dormant stages, or quirks of population ...
