Multilevel Threshold Secret and Function Sharing based on the Chinese Remainder Theorem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A recent work of Harn and Fuyou presents the first multilevel (disjunctive) threshold secret sharing scheme based on the Chinese Remainder Theorem. In this work, we first show that the proposed method is not secure and also fails to work with a certain ...

Bloom

open access: yes, 2023
This essay tracks the solar relations embedded in the short and long phosphorous cycle, tracking the bodies, bonds, and supply chains that connect its extraction in the occupied Western Sahara to planetary bloom ecologies. While phosphorous rarely contends with fossil fuels in the environmental imaginary, I argue that its role in supporting capital and

Multimodal Structural Color Graphics Based on Colloidal Photonic Microdome Arrays

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid photonic system combining colloidal crystals and microscale domes is designed to achieve four switchable optical states via the interplay of Bragg reflection and TIR interference. The graphics composed of the photonic microdome arrays provide tunable, angle‐sensitive structural coloration and concealed‐to‐revealed transitions, offering a ...

In bloom [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Much of the phosphorus which ends up in stream sediment, either through soil erosion or via field drains, is transported attached to particles. The quantity and chemical form of phosphorus in the stream sediment largely controls its concentration in ...

Fully Bio‐Based Gelatin Organohydrogels via Enzymatic Crosslinking for Sustainable Soft Strain and Temperature Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Enzymatically crosslinked gelatin‐based organohydrogels, fabricated through a fully bio‐based and scalable process, exhibit exceptional strain and temperature sensing capabilities with minimal interference from environmental humidity. These transparent, stretchable, and ionically conductive materials operate without synthetic fillers or dopants.

Shape‐Morphing Nanoengineered Hydrogel Ribbons as Hemostats

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a self‐assembling, shape‐morphing nanoengineered hydrogel ribbon system that rapidly forms porous aggregates in situ for efficient hemostasis in trauma and surgical applications. Abstract Rapid and effective hemorrhage control remains a major challenge in trauma and surgical care, particularly for complex or noncompressible wounds.

Microneedle‐Based Biofertilizer Delivery Improves Plant Growth Through Microbiome Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This figure shows how microneedles are used to deliver biofertilizers to enhance plant growth through microbial migration, metabolic reprogramming, and changes in plant endogenous microbiome. Abstract This study presents a microneedle‐based system for the delivery of rhizospheric biofertilizers into plant tissues to enhance growth.

Cold Quad‐Modal Nanocomplex for Precise and Quantitative In Vivo Stem Cell Tracking

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multimodal albumin–bismuth sulfide–superparamagnetic iron oxide (ABS) nanocomplexes are developed for stem cell tracking across four different imaging modalities: MRI, MPI, MSOT, and CT. Combining its flexibility with high sensitivity, this quad‐modal imaging agent enables a robust quantification of ABS‐labeled stem cells in vivo.

Biointerface Membranes Orchestrating Site‐Specific Osteoimmunomodulatory and Antibacterial Effects for Enhanced Osseous Regeneration in Periodontal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, a biointerface membrane engineered with site‐specific interfacial properties is developed. During implantation between gingival and bone defect, the membrane creates a pro‐osteogenic microenvironment, precisely modulates cellular activities at each biointerface, and facilitates the orchestration of complex healing events, ultimately leading to ...

Novel Functional Materials via 3D Printing by Vat Photopolymerization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Perspective systematically analyzes strategies for incorporating functionalities into 3D‐printed materials via Vat Photopolymerization (VP). It explores the spectrum of achievable functionalities in recently reported novel materials—such as conductive, energy‐storing, biodegradable, stimuli‐responsive, self‐healing, shape‐memory, biomaterials, and
