Antimicrobial Peptides and Peptidomimetics in Foods – A Synthetic Foray

open access: yesChemFoodChem, EarlyView.
This Review discusses AMPs in foods and their syntheses. It espouses facile methods to make them accessible and suggests their utility in the mitigation and eradication of the burgeoning maladies of antimicrobial and multidrug resistance (AMR and MDR).

C‐Terminal Functionalization Methods of Amino Acids, Peptides, and Proteins

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
C‐terminal functionalization offers powerful routes to peptide and protein diversification, yet epimerization, hydrolysis, and selectivity remain key challenges. This Review surveys enzymatic, decarboxylative, and condensation strategies, highlighting advances toward chemo‐ and regioselective, protecting‐group‐free, atom‐efficient methods applicable to

Cyclic Disulfide Sorting Influenced by Subtle Steric and Electronic Effects

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The self‐assembly of two unsymmetrical dithiols to form cyclic disulfides are examined with an eye to the longitudinal equilibration behavior and directing agent effects on product distributions. Cyclic disulfide formation occurs in under 2 min, with full equilibration requiring up to 1 week.

Experimental methods in chemical engineering: The scientific method versus engineering design methodology

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Engineering graduate students confuse the scientific method and problem solving when presenting their pre‐doctoral exams and theses: Science discourse adopts question and hypotheses to assert and establish a study's rationale, while it is problem and objectives in engineering design.
