Basic Experiments on a Cryogenic Wind Tunnel of Flashing-Blowdown Type

1996
This paper deals with the experimental approach to a new concept of cryogenic wind tunnel of short duration. In the last two decades various closed-cycle and continuous operation (CCCO) cryogenic wind tunnels have been developed and they have shown many advantages for high Reynolds number experiments.

Some problems in design and operation of blowdown wind tunnels

Model sting support with hard metal core for measurement in the blowdown pressurized wind tunnel

Measurement, 2016
Abstract The wind tunnel model, balance and sting are exposed to the large transient load in the blowdown wind tunnels. As part of the research, in order to improve wind tunnel testing, a new high stiffness sting for testing in the T-38 wind tunnel is developed.

Apparatus for measurement of pitch and yaw damping derivatives in high Reynolds number blowdown wind tunnel

Measurement, 2013
Abstract The pitch/yaw apparatus designed for the measurement of the moment derivative due to an aircraft or missile model angular oscillatory motion in a wind tunnel test section is presented. A model is forced to oscillate with the primary angular oscillation around its transversal axis (pitch or yaw).

The Impact of Pressure Regulators on the Runtime and Energy Savings of Supersonic Blowdown Wind Tunnels

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2016
Pressure regulators have a great impact on the runtime and energy savings of supersonic wind tunnels. In order to investigate this impact quantitatively the theoretical isentropic (ideal) equations for the supersonic wind tunnel flow were compared with viscous CFD computations.

System design and Flow simulation of a Blowdown Sliding-block Supersonic Wind tunnel

Journal of Science and Transport Technology
This study presents the design, simulation and performance evaluation of a blowdown sliding-block supersonic wind tunnel having a test section sized 20 × 20 cm, capable of operating in the range of Mach number from 2 to 4. This sliding-block mechanism allows precise control of Mach number by adjusting the nozzle throat area.
