Ratio of nose blow results to intakes during the decommissioning of a facility at Dounreay

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2007
During the decommissioning of a large glove box facility at Dounreay, in addition to engineering and administration controls, workers wore pressurised suits to minimise their intake of radionuclides. The workers provided nose blows after each suited operation to provide an indication of the effectiveness of protective measures. The nose blows were also

Blowing ratio as an evaluation tool for velopharyngeal function after oral and oropharyngeal cancer resection

Head & Neck, 2009
AbstractBackground. Our objective was to evaluate the value of the blowing test to measure the speech and swallowing function after resection of oral or oropharyngeal cancer.Methods.Speech and swallowing functions of the patients after surgical resection of oral or oropharyngeal cancer were assessed by a speech intelligibility test, blowing time ...

Effects of Density and Blowing Ratios on the Turbulent Structure and Effectiveness of Film-Cooling

Volume 5A: Heat Transfer, 2018
Large eddy simulations (LES) were performed to investigate film cooling of a flat plate, where the cooling jets issued from a plenum through one row of circular holes of diameter D and length 4.7D that are inclined at 35° relative to the plate.

Superposition Characteristics of Full Coverage Film Cooling With Various Blowing Ratio and Row Number

Volume 5B: Heat Transfer, 2019
Abstract Effusion cooling is the next step in gas turbine blade cooling to get the higher turbine inlet temperature, but the interaction between the front jet flow and the rear jet flow still need to be studied. In this paper, the effect of row number and blowing ratio are studied experimentally by PSP and numerically by RANS.

Influence of Blowing Ratio on Flow Structures of an Inclined Jet in Crossflow

2015
This study investigates by experiment the influence of the blowing ratio (BR) on the flow structures of an inclined turbulent jet in crossflow (JICF). The experiment was conducted in a water tunnel with the jet issuing from a round nozzle inclined at streamwise-oriented 35o, practically relevant to the film cooling configuration.

Effects of blowing ratio and film hole arrangement on cavity blade tip cooling

Physics of Fluids
Blade tip leakage is responsible for reducing the aerodynamic performance and increasing the thermal load. In order to obtain better cooling efficiency, the thermodynamic performance of different film hole arrangements and blowing ratios have been compared and analyzed in a cavity tip structure.
