Blown film extrusion of poly(lactic acid) without melt strength enhancers
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2017ABSTRACTProcessing strategies were developed to manufacture poly(lactic acid) (PLA) blown films without melt strength enhancers (MSEs). The effects of processing temperature on PLA's melt properties (shear and elongational viscosities), PLA grades, and other processing conditions [ratio of takeāup roller to extruder's rotational screw speeds or ...

A thin-shell two-phase microstructural model for blown film extrusion
Journal of Rheology, 2010A two-phase microstructural constitutive relation is combined with the thin-shell model for the simulation of blown film extrusion. This combination includes equations for momentum conservation, flow-enhanced crystallization, viscoelasticity, and bubble-tube cooling.

Experimental Research on the Blown Film Extrusion Process of Polyethylene
Journal of Plastic Film & Sheeting, 2001Experimental studies of the blown film extrusion process presented in this paper aim at examining the influence of selected properties of constructional elements of intensive shearing and mixing on the characteristic of this process. The analysis concerned especially the influence of the thickness of the research gap between the inner surface of ...

Photonic Crystals of Oblate Spheroids by Blown Film Extrusion of Prefabricated Colloidal Crystals
Langmuir, 2009Three-dimensional photonic crystals (or photonic band gap materials) have been fabricated with oblate spheroids as the photonic building block. The nonspherical shape was realized by the blown film extrusion process of a prefabricated colloidal photonic crystal of spherical polystyrene particles, with its voids infiltrated by polyvinyl alcohol.

A Novel Processing Aid for Greater Flexibility in Blown Film Extrusion
Journal of Plastic Film & Sheeting, 1987The high melt viscosity of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) presents several problems, particularly melt fracture, when this resin is processed on blown film equipment which has been designed for use with high pressure, low density polyethylene (LDPE) resin. With the help of processing aids, the same equipment may be used to process LLDPE, LDPE

Effects of Anti-Block/Processing Aid Combinations On Lldpe Blown Film Extrusion
Journal of Plastic Film & Sheeting, 1989Anti-block agents differing in composition, structure, and surface coating were compounded with fluorocarbon elastomer polymer processing aids (PPAs) in linear low density polyethylene. Separate and combined masterbatches of 20% anti-block and 2% PPA were melt mixed and let down to 5000 ppm and 500 ppm respectively.

Increased output of blown film extrusion lines by using a cooling sleeve
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2014Production efficiency is one of the most important demands in blown film production. In many cases, the cooling power is the limiting factor for an increased output. A possible solution for a better cooling is the use of a cooling sleeve right after the outlet of the die in addition to the conventional air rings and internal bubble cooling (IBC).

Effect of Rheological Strain Hardening on Extrusion Blown Film of Polyvinylidene Fluoride
Journal of Plastic Film & Sheeting, 2007In this work the effect of strain hardening on poly-vinylidene fluoride (PVDF) extrusion blown film is investigated. Controlled long chain branching is introduced via a multi-functional initiator to produce two PVDF samples with different molecular weight and chain architecture.

Blown film extrusion: experimental, modelling and numerical study
This thesis correlates rheological data into a non-linear blown film model that describes the stress and cooling-induced morphological transformations in the axial and flow profiles of the blown films. This will help to improve the physical and mechanical properties of the films in a cost effective way, which will in turn be of great benefit to the ...openaire +1 more source
