In Situ Imaging for Monitoring Biomass Content and Pellet Size in Submerged Filamentous Stirred‐Tank Cultivation

open access: yesBiotechnology Journal, Volume 21, Issue 10, October 2026.
Graphical Abstract and Lay Summary Noninvasive imaging through a stirred‐tank reactor wall enabled time‐resolved monitoring of biomass and projected pellet size. Model‐sphere validation identified size‐ and concentration‐dependent biases; in Aspergillus oryzae cultivation, luminosity followed biomass, pellet‐size increases coincided with Zn2 ...

Microbial Hydrolysates as Amino Acid Source in Cell Culture Media for Cellular Agriculture

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, Volume 123, Issue 10, Page 2520-2535, October 2026.
ABSTRACT The high cost of cultivation media remains one of the barriers to the commercialization of cultivated meat. Current serum‐free media reduce reliance on fetal bovine serum but only achieve modest cost savings. Especially at larger scales (> 20 m3), pharmaceutical‐grade amino acids and recombinant proteins remain major cost drivers.

Rhino‐Orbital Mucormycosis in an Immunocompetent Adult: A Case Report Emphasizing Diagnostic and Therapeutic Challenges

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Rhino‐orbital mucormycosis can present aggressively in immunocompetent adults, often with atypical initial symptoms that lead to misdiagnosis and dangerous delays. A high index of suspicion is paramount when facing a rapidly progressive orbital infection unresponsive to conventional therapy.

METTL3 Alleviates Liver Abscess by Enhancing Macrophage Efferocytosis via m6A Methylation of Nrf2 mRNA

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Persistent inflammation and impaired macrophage efferocytosis contribute to liver injury during bacterial liver abscesses (BLA). This study was conducted to investigate whether METTL3 alleviates BLA by promoting macrophage efferocytosis through m6A methylation of Nrf2 mRNA. Materials and Methods METTL3 was overexpressed in the liver
