Treatment of wood with silica sols against attack by wood-decaying fungi and blue stain
Abstract Pine sapwood was treated with various types of silica sols. Whereas alkaline sols were not able to penetrate deeper into wood, neutral and acidic sols showed good penetration. The weight percent gain of treated specimens amounted to 20–25%; bulking was negligible or even slightly negative.

Colour Changes of Weathered Wood Surfaces Before and After Treatment with Iron (II) Sulphate
Outdoor wood is exposed to various factors that can be described as weathering and cause the wood to grey. The ageing processes can vary greatly depending on the exposure. Parts of wood that are not exposed to external factors, e.g. under the overhanging,

Acupuncture at Feishu (BL13), Shenshu (BL23), Yingxiang (LI20), and Dazhui (GV14) alleviates allergic rhinitis by activating the AMPK/PGC‐1α/NRF1/TFAM signalling axis. This activation improves mitochondrial biogenesis and function, reduces mtROS‐mediated oxidative stress, restores ATP production and respiratory complex I/IV activity, suppresses IgE and

Agar xerogel was used to immobilize cellulase. Properties of partially purified cellulase from Aspergillus foetidus and commercial cellulase were compared after immobilization. Abstract This research study is a comparative study of the characteristics of partially purified cellulase produced from Aspergillus foetidus through solid‐state fermentation ...

Infection mechanisms of Rhizoctonia cerealis in wheat
We discover that R. cerealis (Rc) is a primary pathogen causing sharp eyespot of wheat after 335 distinct isolates were isolated from 1683 SE‐diseased wheat plants across China over 7 years using a single hyphal tip isolation method. We then generated high‐quality reference genomes via de novo sequencing of five representative Rc isolates and ...
