Blue Carbon Accounting for Carbon Markets

2018
Carbon (C) markets provide an incentive for new projects and activities that result in net greenhouse gas benefits. Accounting for methane emissions is critical for blue C projects because of the high global warming potential of methane relative to C dioxide and the large variation in methane emissions rates.

Blue photoluminescent carbon nanodots from limeade

Materials Science and Engineering: C, 2016
Carbon-based photoluminescent nanodot has currently been one of the promising materials for various applications. The remaining challenges are the carbon sources and the simple synthetic processes that enhance the quantum yield, photostability and biocompatibility of the nanodots.

Why Value ‘Blue Carbon’?

2015
This chapter intends examine the potential of blue carbon storage ecosystem services to contribute to a healthy climate and to support future protection for the coastal and marine habitats. Coastal ecosystems store ‘blue carbon’ but this provision is currently not protected by any international climate agreement or mechanism.

Plastic Paradox in Blue Carbon Ecosystems

Environmental Science & Technology
Plastics are rapidly accumulating in blue carbon ecosystems, i.e., mangrove forests, tidal marshes, and seagrass meadows. Accumulated plastic is diverted from the ocean, but the extent and nature of impacts on blue carbon ecosystem processes, including carbon sequestration, are poorly known.
