Two-exon skipping within MLPH is associated with coat color dilution in rabbits. [PDF]
Coat color dilution turns black coat color to blue and red color to cream and is a characteristic in many mammalian species. Matings among Netherland Dwarf, Loh, and Lionhead Dwarf rabbits over two generations gave evidence for a monogenic autosomal ...

The blue plume population in dwarf spheroidal galaxies: genuine blue stragglers or young stellar population? [PDF]
Abridged... Blue stragglers (BSS) are thought to be the product of either primordial or collisional binary systems. In the context of dwarf spheroidal galaxies it is hard to firmly disentangle a genuine BSS population from young main sequence (MS) stars tracing a ~1-2 Gyr old star forming episode.

WOCS 5379: Detailed Analysis of the Evolution of a Post-Mass-Transfer Blue Straggler [PDF]
The blue-straggler binary WOCS 5379 is a member of the old (6-7 Gyr) open cluster NGC 188. WOCS 5379 comprises a blue straggler star with a white dwarf companion in a 120-day eccentric orbit. Combined with the orbital period, this helium white dwarf is evidence of previous mass transfer by a red giant.

A Novel OsMPK6‐OsMADS47‐PPKL1/3 Module Controls Grain Shape and Yield in Rice
OsMADS47 is identified as a key regulator governing rice grain morphology. Phosphorylation‐dependent regulation of its activity directs the development of slender versus round grains, modulating both yield and appearance. This mechanism bridges cellular signaling with transcriptional regulation, establishing a molecular framework for grain optimization.

The Missing Link: Early Methane ("T") Dwarfs in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey [PDF]
We report the discovery of three cool brown dwarfs which fall in the effective temperature gap between the latest L dwarfs currently known, with no methane absorption bands in the 1-2.5um range, and the previously known methane (T) dwarfs, whose spectra are dominated by methane and water.

Unusual Thermal Transport in Few‐Layer Van der Waals Antiferromagnet CrOCl
Thermal transport serves as an ultra‐sensitive probe for detecting the magnetic order in 2D materials. Using the suspended thermal bridge method enhanced by Wheatstone bridges, it is, for the first time, observed anomalous critical behavior in few‐layer CrOCl near its Néel temperature.

Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) employs a cap‐independent (CI) translation strategy to evade host translational shutoff. During the shut‐off of host cellular canonical translation, DEAD‐box protein 3 (DDX3) bind to JEV UTRs to establish a closed‐loop architecture, and its interaction with poly(A)‐binding protein 1 (PABP1) to form DDX3/PABP1/eIF4G ...

M dwarfs show frequent flares and associated coronal mass ejections (CMEs) may significantly impact close-in habitable planets. M dwarf flares sometimes show blue/red asymmetries in the H α line profile, suggesting prominence eruptions as an early stage ...
