Winter energy requirements of blue grouse

Canadian Journal of Zoology, 1992
We measured the effects of temperature (Ta) on the metabolic rate of 6 blue grouse (Dendragapus obscurus) during winter with indirect respiration calorimetry. The standard metabolic rate was 0.812 L O2∙(kg0.734)−1∙h−1 and was 24% higher than that predicted allometrically.

Blue Energy: Salinity Gradient for Energy Conversion

2015
Similar to a difference in elevation, potential energy is also associated with a difference in salt concentration so that electric power can eventually be produced by exploiting the salinity gradient between freshwater of rivers and seawater. Unfortunately, exploiting the salinity gradient for power production is not so easy as waterfalls.

The Surface Energy Balance of Antarctic Snow and Blue Ice

Journal of Applied Meteorology, 1995
A detailed meteorological experiment was carried out in the vicinity of a blue-ice area in the Heimefrontfjella, Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica, during the austral summer of 1992/93. Since not all the surface fluxes could be measured directly, the use of a model was necessary. The surface energy balance was evaluated at four locations: one on blue ice,

Blue Wind Energy for Sustainable Urbanization

Blue wind energy, a pioneering concept, amalgamates offshore wind energy generation with cutting-edge technologies. There is a dire need to address the growing energy demands of urbanization while mitigating the environmental impact of conventional energy sources.

Anthropocene Blues: Abundance, Energy, Limits

2015
Energy history offers one way of trying to understand the Anthropocene and link the histories of capital and climate. Fossil fuel consumption has been integral to the project of modernity; the energy content of coal and oil lent legitimacy and practical force to the ambitions of reformers and revolutionaries across the political spectrum.
