A Simple Clinical Test of Blue Cone Sensitivity in Early Eye Disease

We have shown previously that the sensitivity of the B cone system may be selectively depressed as an early sign of retinal disease (Adams, 1982; Zisman and Adams, 1982). Here we report on a simple inexpensive clinical test, utilizing a four alternative forced choice method, that evaluates B cone sensitivity.

Is blue light, cryptochrome in the eye, and magnetite in the brain involved in the development of frontotemporal dementia and other diseases?

When cryptochrome in the retina is exposed to blue light, it undergo series of complicated chemical reactions. One of these intermediates has magnetic properties. It could be a link between the magnetic stage of cryptochrome in the retina and magnetite in the brain.
