Increased aeolian activity linked to Neoglacial cooling and glacier advance in southern Greenland

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Intense aeolian activity observed in the Igaliku Kujalleq records in S Greenland is not related to Norse activities. Instead, we suggest that changes in the North Atlantic atmospheric circulation pattern combined with Neoglacial glacier advances led to increased katabatic wind activity and triggered increased aeolian activity from large outwash plains.

Strategies, costs and counter‐strategies to sexual coercion

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sexual conflict, the conflict between the evolutionary interests of females and males over mating, occasionally results in the evolution of traits favourable for one sex and adverse for the other. In this context, males can use sexual coercion to increase their mating success, at the expense of their female targets' mate choice.

Relevance of state–behaviour feedbacks for animal welfare

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT An animal's behaviour and its state, including its health and affective state, are dynamic and tightly coupled, influencing each other over time. Although both are relevant to the animal's welfare, there has been limited research on their dynamics in welfare studies. Here we aim to: (i) review evidence for feedbacks between state and behaviour

Decoding the Molecular Landscape of Prepubertal Oocyte Maturation: GTPBP4 as a Key Driver of In Vitro Developmental Competence

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Transcriptional and translational characteristics during goat oocyte maturation and identification of key factors, including GTPBP4, for prepubertal goat oocyte maturation. ABSTRACT The intricate mechanisms driving oocyte maturation remain only partially understood, especially within the domains of domestic animal reproduction and translational ...

Engineering Intervertebral Disc Regeneration: Biomaterials, Cell Sources and Animal Models

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
This review highlights the current tissue engineering approaches utilising biomaterials, animal models and cell sources for intervertebral disc regeneration and discusses future opportunities. ABSTRACT Intervertebral disc (IVD) degeneration is an age‐related problem triggering chronic spinal issues, such as low back pain and IVD herniation.
