Blue-light background impairs visual exogenous attention shift
Previous research into the effects of blue light on visual-spatial attention has yielded mixed results due to a lack of properly controlling critical factors like S-cone stimulation, ipRGCs stimulation, and color.

Blue shift DNA mutagenesis test III
The blue shifted plasmid samples from yesterday's test was taken out of the red light exposure chamber and transformed with NEB turbo E.coli strain. Hopefully the full 24 hour exposure was enough to induce purine mutation in the naked DNA, we'll find out soon.

Relation between Halogen Bond Strength and IR and NMR Spectroscopic Markers
The relationship between the strength of a halogen bond (XB) and various IR and NMR spectroscopic quantities is assessed through DFT calculations. Three different Lewis acids place a Br or I atom on a phenyl ring; each is paired with a collection of N ...

Dynamic Responses of Cylindrical Whispering Gallery Mode Revealed by Axial Liquid Disturbance
Cylindrical whispering gallery mode (WGM) microresonators have achieved much attention in the sensing field due to high sensitivity, compatibility and integration. The excitation of spiral modes in such a resonator is unavoidable, causing the axial field

Fabrication of Self-Assembling Carbon Nanotube Forest Fishnet Metamaterials
The investigation of the preparation of polystyrene (PS) nanosphere monolayers for the fabrication of carbon nanotube (CNT) forest fishnet metamaterial structures is studied in this paper, as a cheap alternative for top-down patterning methods.

Improving far-red light utilization could be an approach to increasing crop production under suboptimal conditions. In land plants, only a small part of far-red light can be used for photosynthesis, which is captured by the antenna proteins LHCAs of ...

Blue shift of spontaneous emission in hyperbolic metamaterial. [PDF]
Spontaneous emission is one of the most fundamental quantum phenomena in optics. Following the seminal work of Purcell and in agreement with the Fermi's Golden Rule, its rate can be controlled with the photonic density of states (PDOS). In recent years, this effect has been demonstrated in metamaterials with hyperbolic dispersion--highly anisotropic ...

Observation of Ultrashort Laser Pulse Evolution in a Silicon Photonic Crystal Waveguide
Using the sum frequency generation cross-correlation frequency-resolved optical gating (SFG-XFROG) measurement setup, we observed the soliton evolution of low energy pulse in an Si photonic crystal waveguide, and it exhibited the pulse broadening, blue ...
