Giantically blue-shifted visible light in femtosecond mid-IR filament in fluorides [PDF]

open access: yesOpt. Express 23, 29202-29210 (2015), 2015
A giant blue shift of an isolated visible band of supercontinuum was discovered and studied in the single filament regime of Mid-IR femtosecond laser pulse at powers slightly exceeding critical power for self-focusing in fluorides.

Soliton blue-shift in tapered photonic crystal fiber

open access: yes, 2010
We show that solitons undergo a strong blue shift in fibers with a dispersion landscape that varies along the direction of propagation. The experiments are based on a small-core photonic crystal fiber, tapered to have a core diameter that varies ...

Blue shift of CdSe/ZnS nanocrystal-labels upon DNA-hybridization

open access: yesJournal of Nanobiotechnology, 2008
Luminescence color multiplexing is one of the most intriguing benefits, which might occur by using semiconductor Quantum Dots (QDs) as labels for biomolecules.

Color Changes in Ag Nanoparticle Aggregates Placed in Various Environments: Their Application to Air Monitoring

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
Fresh Ag nanoparticles (NPs) dispersed on a transparent SiO2 exhibit an intense optical extinction band originating in localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) in the visible range.

Terahertz intersubband absorption in non-polar m-plane AlGaN/GaN quantum wells

open access: yes, 2014
We demonstrate THz intersubband absorption (15.6-26.1 meV) in m-plane AlGaN/GaN quantum wells. We find a trend of decreasing peak energy with increasing quantum well width, in agreement with theoretical expectations.

Insights into the renal pathophysiology in Hermansky‐Pudlak syndrome‐1 from urinary extracellular vesicle proteomics and a new mouse model

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 599, Issue 7, Page 1055-1074, April 2025.
Hermansky‐Pudlak syndrome type 1 (HPS‐1) is a rare, autosomal recessive disorder with poorly understood renal involvement. Urinary extracellular vesicle (uEV) proteomics and a novel Hps1 mouse model reveal mitochondrial abnormalities and lipid accumulation in HPS‐1 kidney proximal tubule cells. Serum ApoA1 correlates with kidney function in our patient

Magnetic blue shift of Mott gaps enhanced by double exchange

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2021
A substantial energy gap of charge excitations induced by strong correlations is the characteristic feature of Mott insulators. We study how the Mott gap is affected by long-range antiferromagnetic order. Our key finding is that the Mott gap is increased

Blue-shifting, asymmetric quantum wells

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1996
Asymmetric, (100) blue-shifting quantum wells have been fabricated using δ-doped layers at each well-barrier interface. The photoluminescence peaks depend on the δ-dopant concentration as predicted, and blue shifts of 38 nm have been measured for a factor 20 increase in optical pump power.

Beetle luciferases with naturally red- and blue-shifted emission [PDF]

open access: yesLife Science Alliance, 2018
The different colors of light emitted by bioluminescent beetles that use an identical substrate and chemiexcitation reaction sequence to generate light remain a challenging and controversial mechanistic conundrum. The crystal structures of two beetle luciferases with red- and blue-shifted light relative to the green yellow light of the common firefly ...
